preventive medicine expert: obama 'underplaying' ebola risk
http://www.breitbart.com/ ^ | Oct 2, 2014 | BREITBART TV

Posted on 10/03/2014 6:03:23 AM PDT by Whenifhow

Dr. Elizabeth Vliet, [snip] accused the government of “underplaying the risk” of the Ebola virus, and seemed to argue that flights from countries with large Ebola outbreaks should not be allowed into the US on Thursday’s [snip] “The Laura Ingraham Show.”

snip

Speaking on the prospect of a flight ban and the contention that only individuals who are showing symptoms of the virus can transmit it, she said “viruses mutate and change, and so to say anything with 100% certainty when you are dealing with viruses that change is medically irresponsible.” And that “no one can say with 100% certainty” when someone becomes infectious, and this is the reason why European nations have halted flights from countries like Liberia.

She further wondered why the American recently diagnosed with Ebola was not stopped, asking “why wasn’t he stopped at customs, why wasn’t he screened then, why wasn’t he quarantined as they’re doing in other countries?”

Dr. Vliet also declared that President Obama is “underplaying the risk to Americans, and I think when we have evidence going back to the Reston lab accident in Virginia a couple decades ago, of potential airborne transmission, the Canadian government has said that airborne transmission was strongly suspected [].”

She reported that Canadian health advisories on the virus scrubbed their mentions of the potential for airborne transmission of the virus even though the data did not change, “I printed out the Canadian public health advisory back in June. There is a statement in their report that airborne transmission was strongly suspected based upon the 2012 Canadian study with a transmission between two species... that were not in physical contact…I just re-printed the Canadian advisory this week, lo and behold, that statement has been taken out…the medical data did not change,” she said.

Sure he is. If this turns out to be half as bad as it could be his legacy is toast (as if it wasn’t already)

OBAMA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR AN INCOMING HEALTH CRISIS OF APOCALIPTIC PROPORTIONS.
Incompetence and malfeasant is the coat of arms of Obama’s administration

The Centers for Disease Control Changed Its Ebola Prevention Page on September 19, 2014. Why?

PJ Media ^ | 10/1/14 | Bryan Preston

PREVENTION

PARAPHRASING SOCRATES, THE CDC ADMITES THAT ALL THEY KNOW IS THAT THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT EBOLA.

CDC edited out the following text on Sept 19:

Because we still do not know exactly how people are infected with Ebola, few primary prevention measures have been established and no vaccine exists. When cases of the disease do appear, risk of transmission is increased within healthcare settings. Therefore, healthcare workers must be able to recognize a case of Ebola and be ready to use practical viral hemorrhagic fever isolation precautions or barrier nursing techniques. They should also have the capability to request diagnostic tests or prepare samples for shipping and testing elsewhere.

Why did the CDC edit all of that information out? Did the science change, or did the government make the edit for some other reason(s)?

There is no FDA-approved vaccine available for Ebola.

If you travel to or are in an area affected by an Ebola outbreak, make sure to do the following: •

Practice careful hygiene. Avoid contact with blood and body fluids. •

Do not handle items that may have come in contact with an infected person’s blood or body fluids. •

Avoid funeral or burial rituals that require handling the body of someone who has died from Ebola. •

Avoid contact with bats and nonhuman primates or blood, fluids, and raw meat prepared from these animals. •

Avoid hospitals where Ebola patients are being treated. The U.S. embassy or consulate is often able to provide advice on facilities. •

After you return, monitor your health for 21 days and seek medical care immediately if you develop symptoms of Ebola(http://www.cdc.gov/vhf/ebola/symptoms/index.html).

Healthcare workers who may be exposed to people with Ebola should follow these steps: •

Wear protective clothing, including masks, gloves, gowns, and eye protection. •

Practice proper infection control and sterilization measures. For more information, see “Infection Control for Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers in the African Health Care Setting”. •

Isolate patients with Ebola from other patients. •

direct contact with the bodies of people who have died from Ebola. •

Notify health officials if you have had direct contact with the blood or body fluids, such as but not limited to, feces, saliva, urine, vomit, and semen of a person who is sick with Ebola. The virus can enter the body through broken skin or unprotected mucous membranes in, for example, the eyes, nose, or mouth.

Doomsday warning: UN Ebola chief raises ‘nightmare’ prospect that virus could mutate and become airborne - making it much more infectious

United Nations warns Ebola virus currently plaguing West Africa could become airborne

The longer it moves between human hosts the greater possibility of mutation.

The risk grows the longer virus is living within the human ‘melting pot’ NGOs have said the Ebola virus is currently infecting five people every hour.

More than 3,300 people have died from Ebola since the outbreak first began.

Officials call for 1,000 new Sierra Leone isolation centres to contain virus British survivor says ‘horror’ of children dying from disease must be avoided.

From Pigs to Monkeys, Ebola Goes Airborne

Nov 21, 2012 | Jane Huston | Research & Policy –

http://healthmap.org/site/diseasedaily/article/pigs-monkeys-ebola-goes-airborne-112112#sthash.srRHtwa1.dpuf

Ebola has a 21 days incubation period before the infested person show symptoms. The CDC maintains that a person infested with Ebola cannot transmit it until they show symptoms of the disease. How can they assure that the person cannot infest another person after 10, 15, or 19 days of being infested by the virus while still not showing symptoms of the virus? The CDC falsely assure the American people that it cannot be transmitted by air although studies in Canada seems to prove otherwise.

When news broke that the Ebola virus had resurfaced in Uganda, investigators in Canada were making headlines of their own with research indicating the deadly virus may spread between species, through the air. The team, comprised of researchers from the National Centre for Foreign Animal Disease, the University of Manitoba, and the Public Health Agency of Canada, observed transmission of Ebola from pigs to monkeys.

They first inoculated a number of piglets with the Zaire strain of the Ebola virus. Ebola-Zaire is the deadliest strain, with mortality rates up to 90 percent. The piglets were then placed in a room with four cynomolgus macaques, a species of monkey commonly used in laboratories. The animals were separated by wire cages to prevent direct contact between the species. Within a few days, the inoculated piglets showed clinical signs of infection indicative of Ebola infection.

In pigs, Ebola generally causes respiratory illness and increased temperature. Nine days after infection, all piglets appeared to have recovered from the disease. Within eight days of exposure, two of the four monkeys showed signs of Ebola infection. Four days later, the remaining two monkeys were sick too. It is possible that the first two monkeys infected the other two, but transmission between non-human primates has never before been observed in a lab setting.

Airborne and droplet transmission both technically travel through the air to infect others; the difference lies in the size of the infective particles. Smaller droplets persist in the air longer and are able to travel farther- these droplets are truly “airborne.” Larger droplets can neither travel as far nor persist for very long.

What do these findings mean? First and foremost, Ebola is not suddenly an airborne disease.

Doctor Boards Atlanta Flight In HazMat Suit To Protest “Lying CDC”

Zero Hedge ^ | 10/2/14 | Tyler Durden

“If they’re not lying, they are grossly incompetent,” said Dr. Gil Mobley, a microbiologist and emergency trauma physician from Springfield, Mo. as he checked in and cleared Atlanta airport security wearing a mask, goggles, gloves, boots and a hooded white jumpsuit emblazoned on the back with the words, “CDC is lying!” As The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, Mobley says the CDC is “sugar-coating” the risk of the virus spreading in the United States.

Ebola is the perfect political tool. With a 3 week incubation time, there is plenty of time to spin the news before the next wave becomes public.

You can bet the admin folks are spending more effort on spin than actually trying to stop the disease.

Ping but I’ll have trouble finding this again I imagine.

If it is so hard to transmit, how is it that so many health care workers who are suited up get it?

Why do they always say avoid contact with “blood and body fluids” but never say a word about SWEAT. Is SWEAT somehow not a body fluid?

Why isn’t a medical emergency declared and HIPPA suspended in these cases? PC is going to kill us all.

This isn’t the flu and it is irresponsible to draw any comparisons to the flu.

The medocos usually think the public is stupid. One on Bennett (a medical student actually I think) this morning said mere humans are not capable of judging what he knows any more than he is capable of judging the statements of a mechanic. In other words, how dare any mere unqualified human question the statements of CDC. I guess the doc isn’t all that smart anyway because I can learn what the mechanic does. Is there some barrier that prevents mere humans from understanding medical biological topics? Are doctors given some magic decoder implant when they attend medical school?

Great post!
Here is the video of Dr Gil Mobley - notice on the video at 6:38 - Neil asks how will it be transmitted?

Dr. Mobley says “ask the first doctor that came to Atlanta - he followed every precaution.... Shake the hand of someone with a fever [and then motions to touch corner of his eye ] and it is all over - you are dead....

It is amazing how often solutions are really simple but the left takes a common sense solution and adopts a nonsense solution.

If you’ve been in a hot zone, you must leave the hot zone and show that you have no symptoms for 3 weeks before you can come to the US. Don’t care where you go for 3 weeks, just not here. If the place you pick becomes a hot zone, you start all over. Simple.

Underplaying the risk, or overplaying his hand?

The game of Ebola Roulette continues...

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!

Bring Out Your Dead

We’re gonna need

a bigger cart!

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Well if a bunch of cases pop up in the next 3 weeks it could be real lonely at the voting booth.

It will be the awake and aware people who stay away...namely, the more conservative voters. Maybe this is the Democrats' October Surprise...

Our city is full of awake and aware people and they are already avoiding the malls, by the looks of things. A few more publicized cases and economic Armageddon is coming to the USA, whether we have a major Ebola outbreak or not.

I agree that it would not take much for people to just stay home and not go to any stores or even work. The economy would tank.
