Blunt slams ATF for racial identification on gun sales
The Hill ^

Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) blasted the Obama administration for requesting racial information during gun sales.

“The right of law-abiding citizens to own firearms is an individual right guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution,” Blunt wrote in a letter to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) over the weekend. “The constitutional right of a citizen to own a firearm has nothing to do with race or ethnicity.”

Blunt demanded answers as to why the ATF would want or need racial information about gun purchasers.

Couldn’t they just discriminate based on people with non-traditional names? That’s probably about a 98% correlation with subculture.

We have a race based government.

The DNC has always been a race based organization.

“The constitutional right of a citizen to own a firearm has nothing to do with race or ethnicity.”

I am SO cynical of the Obungler administration, that, unless they answer why they want to know people's racial background, I automatically assume they are trying to discriminate against white people. Do you think that might be a reasonable assumption?

Probably trying to determine the exact number of “white Hispanics” buying guns to gun down Arizona Ice Tea/Skittles buyers.

It’s about time somebody addressed this issue. Ten years ago you could go to the gun shop and fill out the one-page form with all of you pertinent info. And the gun shop owner would get on the phone to the FBI right there in front of you, describe you to them, give them your name, DOB, etc. And in fifteen minutes you had your confirmation. Then all you had to do was come back after the three-day waiting period, pay the man, and pick up your heat.
Times have changed since the advent of ObamaNation. Now the form is four pages long, and it asks you creepy questions like: “Are you black or Hispanic? Have you ever been in the military? Are there children in your home?” And it goes on.
It just ain’t worth the hassle. Easier to just buy some heat off the street. Between the gangstas, the luchadores, the sh*tkickers and the rednecks, there are plenty of guns out there that enterprising Americans are eager to sell under the table.

Heckuva lot easier than that in GA. If you have a CCW it takes about 10 minutes. If you don’t, it may take 20. Or just make a deal with a private owner on armslist.com and go pick it up.

Ah...your question. I'm all kinds of stuff, with, yeah, some Cherokee from both parents but no Cherokee culture. And English, Norman/French, Norwegian, Scot, Dutch, Jewish, Irish and whatever else. Don't know what to put on a form. I try to choose some better behaviors from some cultures and pitch negative ones. Some folks want to believe that they're pure this or that, but we're all mixed from thousands of years of migrations.
