I am a civil engineer by trade, and this is why I will never, ever put my seal on a design for a bike lane.

Because cyclists aren't required to carry liability insurance, the family of this victim will likely be pursuing legal action against anybody involved in the design, construction and operation of the park facilities -- simply because those parties are the only ones with the resources and insurance coverage to pay an enormous settlement.

I have to have a Drivers License with a motorcycle certification. I must pay for a safety sticker every year. I have to obey traffic laws and pay taxes to own my motorcycle.
