Prosecutor asks for co-counsel for Perry case

AUSTIN -- The special prosecutor in the case against Gov. Rick Perry is asking for some help.

San Antonio lawyer Michael McCrum, who guided the case to last month's indictment, filed a motion Friday asking a state court to fund a co-counsel.

"Mr. Perry has filed several pleadings attacking the legality of the Texas statute that underlie the criminal charges the grand jury filed against him," McCrum wrote. "After due consideration, it is the opinion of undersigned counsel that an additional counsel is necessary at this time to adequately respond to motions and applications filed and otherwise prepare for trial."

Perry's legal team has filed at least two motions to quash the indictment for allegedly being vague, unconstitutional and politcally-motivated. The team headed by Houston trial lawyer Tony Buzbee includes several well-known national attorneys and a former Texas Supreme Court justice.

This comes after reports surfaced that McCrum is up on contempt charges for allegedly telling a witness in a manslaughter case to "get lost" and be unavailable for questioning.

McCrum and his legal career seem to be falling apart.

So, did McCrum initially think that Perry would just lay down without a fight, or more likely did he think that filing the bogus indictment would be his “Mission Accomplished” moment?

Sounds like McCrum could be headed to jail.

Your comment got me thinking. What lawyer would want to attach his professional reputation to this legal argument? Will McCrum get assistance from a willing attorney? I mean, it's one thing to provide an able legal defense to a person obviously guilty of a crime. But advancing a legal theory to dismantle the Western Civilization's democratic (with a small 'd') system is something else.

I may be proven wrong. Destroying the institutions of Western Civilization may burnish a lawyer's resume to the Democratic (big 'D') Party.

Lets hope this political warfare adds to the jail sentence. The left always seems to side with evil. There should be consequences.

To make progress, the progressives don’t necessarily have to win the first time around. They just have to try and keep on trying. This is what has gotten most of their gains: pure dogged persistence.

Lisa Blue? She isn’t working since she buried her husband (John Edward’s bag man).

Windy Davis? She’s going to have a lot of time on her hands. And she has that Harvard Degree purchased by the sugar daddy.

The Drunk from Austin?

Any competent counsel could anticipate the arguments that would be made in opposition. There might be one or two arguments that counsel did not foresee, but this prosecutor would know what to expect in response to the indictment. He can’t claim to be blindsided.

“filed a motion Friday asking a state court to fund a co-counsel”

I wonder if Perry could veto any additional funding?

They need to tell the corrupt McCrum to go suck eggs. He created this monstrosity of a bogus charge and he deserves to go ALONE with it down in flames.

.....if McCrum’s legal team were a basketball team they would be the B team of Porter Jr. High!

Indeed, it would be like Porter Jr. High’s B team playing the Spurs. It’s literally that bad!

McCrum files this ridiculous case at the behest of his die hard liberal pals and now he whines when the going gets tough and wants the taxpayers to buy him some high priced assistance. The hell with him!
