A 28-year-old Elizabethtown woman was awakened Tuesday morning in her Warfield Street home when police say three teenagers broke in with the intention of stealing money.
The teens — all boys between the ages of 14 and 16 — are lodged in Lincoln Village Regional Juvenile Detention Center and charged with robbery, authorities said.
The woman was shot in the head by a paintball gun, according to Elizabethtown police. The blow left a laceration that forced her to be taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.
When police responded to the 100 block of Warfield Street at 3:12 a.m., they captured two boys running across a parking lot of a business on North Main Street. During questioning, police were told a third teen was involved in the incident and he was found and brought to department headquarters.
According to an EPD news release, the woman reported she was awakened and startled by the boys. The teens said they planned the home invasion “with the goal of taking some easy cash,” according to an EPD news release. Police said the woman called them to the scene.
The 14-year-old male was charged with first-degree robbery. The 15- and 16-year-olds were charged with first-degree complicity to robbery.
An investigation is ongoing.

I realize the reporter is probably no smarter than my beagle but I note no charges listed for the use of the paintball gun. The wound needed medical treatment. Shouldn’t an assault charge have been lodged against one or all of these clowns?

Actually, on reading it again, since she was 28 and they were “teens”, she technically is their elder. :=) I doubt that any elder abuse laws apply though.
