LOS ANGELES – Gov. Jerry Brown reversed a parole board and denied on Friday the release of a former Charles Manson follower who served more than 43 years in prison.

It was the third time a California governor denied the release of Bruce Davis, 71, a member of the murderous Manson Family who was convicted in the 1969 slayings of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald "Shorty" Shea.

Congrats go to Gov. Brown, he's right on this. No Manson family murderer should ever be paroled. Period.

I get concerned about people who hurl curses when they don’t even know whom they are cursing.

I agree. However, a few months ago, Leslie Van Houten was denied parole and several people on this forum actually defended her and said she had "done her time".

“Bruce Davis”, (was convicted in the 1969 slayings of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald “Shorty” Shea) currently poses an unreasonable danger to society if released from prison.”

Same as he did BEFORE he committed the murders.

“Davis long maintained that he was a bystander in the killings, but in recent years he has acknowledged his shared responsibility.” Here we see he is a liar.

“I was a dependent person. I needed attention and approval. I wasn’t my own person. I wanted sex, drugs and rock `n roll,” Davis said.

A parole board determined in 2010 that Davis was ready for release, but then-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reversed the decision.

Yep, I watch for articles or threads about them and have seen that here also.

I lived in LA County when the murders took place and my dad was an engineer that worked at the same outfit as Leslie Van Houten’s dad.

The murders were horrendous and a lot of people were scared to death because the murderers were crazies and everyone knew it.

They should have been executed like they were sentenced to be but liberal leftists prevailed and their sentences were reduced to life.

In my view they haven’t “done their time” until they’re dead.

Good to see Brown do something right for once, but this entire bunch should have been executed long ago.

Congrats go to Gov. Brown, he's right on this. No Manson family murderer should ever be paroled. Period.

It's because of moonbeam and rose bird that the manson clan and other murderers are still alive, so this little act to assuage his guilt is pretty damn small for the damage he has done.

I believe the Supreme Court invalidated the death penalty some time before Brown first took office, and Manson and all others on death row had their sentences commuted to life.

I believe Rose bird was Chief Justice during Moonbeams tenure. moonbeam 1975-1983, rose bird chief justice 1977-1987. moonbeam appointed rose bird.

Justice Rose Bird, in the sixty-one capital cases heard by the California Supreme Court while she served as its Chief Justice, never voted to uphold a death sentence.

The New York Times, on December 6, 1999, wrote “[a]fter the death penalty was reinstated in California in the late 1970's, Judge Bird never upheld a death sentence, voting to vacate such sentences 61 times.

Kind of hard to argue with.

I know all that, but Manson’s death sentence was commuted by a SCOTUS decision. That was my only point in response to your incorrect complaint.
