So which politician/judge/da/lawyer got pepper sprayed for patting the wrong backside?
DC banned mace/pepper spray for years, ostensibly because criminals were using it to help mug people.
Criminals, being criminals, didn’t let it’s unavailability in the District deter them, they just started using the small bottles of EZOff oven cleaner.
DC ultimately reversed the ban (although put in registration restrictions, apparantly) under the auspices that it was better to lose a wallet or purse than a wallet or purse AND eyesight.
DC ‘government’ is firmly in the hands of the melanin enhanced “Where da white girls” persons.
That being a given, then to protect their own, said persons would make every effort to render their victims helpless.
I smell a business opportunity.
As I said, they don’t want normal, non-violent people to defend themselves, but instead deliberately and intentionally leave guns in the hands of violent criminals.
Wasp Spray is still legal, albeit not pocket-sized. . .

I absolutely agree with getting pepper spray for humans if that’s what you’re worried about & using bear spray for bears. However, if some place like DC won’t let you get human spray so you can defend yourself AND they don’t give you a registration form for bear spray (I have no idea what the situation is regarding purchasing bear spray - I’m speculating), then I’ll take my chances with bear spray. 2.5 million per 3 million ..... I’m thinking a fog of pepper spray is going to be better than nothing & I’ve heard from credible folks that it will put a man down if they get a face full.
As for the wasp/hornet spray, it’s nasty stuff but I haven’t heard of it being used in lieu of pepper spray. I’d never use it. The ultimate irony is that some female somewhere is going to use it on an attacker, survive somehow, and get sued by the attacker for using it on them. The way this world is upside down these days, I have no doubt it’s just a matter of time.
Wasp/hornet spray can travel as far as 40 feet. Nasty stuff.

I engage in an activity where we occasionally (couple of times in the late summer months) disturb ‘ground bee’ nests (also called yellow jackets). We use the wasp/hornet spray to knock the nests out from a distance because the bees are really, really mad & you can’t get very close at that point. The only problem is that the bees away from the nests gallivanting around the countryside are some kind of pi$$ed off when they come back to the nest & find it destroyed! The spray smells terrible and you definitely want to avoid breathing any fumes.
And totally ineffective.
I had a sobering experience of that reality when I helped my daughter move into the Georgetown campus.
Two weeks prior a student couple returning to campus just before midnight, within the campus "housing area" experienced a DC rape and murders. Not far from a world class restaurant.
This was 1993, and all indications are that it is now much worse.
People need to stop visiting these places. If you cannot defend your own life or that of your family, no tourist attraction will lure me in. Period.
New York City does that too, based on what I last heard. There are like 3 pharmacies that will sell it, and then only after you fill out the paper.
No worries. When she gets to South Carolina she can buy practically anything she wants.
Massachusetts requires an FID card and registration for pepper spray.
don’t all postal carriers carry it?
are they all criminals to be arrested?
