It is not a potential of Ebola spreading widely in the U.S., director Thomas Friedman told reporters on a conference call Thursday. That is not in the cards. Arrogant asshat government bureaucrat. I'm sure there were the same kind of people telling the President back before 9/11/2001 "there's no problem with terrorists here."
His agency has been more concerned with the diseases of handguns, spousal abuse, racism, and bias against Islam - whatever than it has been actually living up to its name.

The problem with this grandiose plan is that, once you “diagnose” that someone has Ebola with your cute little kit, it’s too late.

mandate the apprehension and detention of Americans who merely show signs of respiratory illness.
Oh oh, I've been fighting a nagging case of bronchitis for three weeks now. Better lay low.

And, in a move that raised some eyebrows this morning, President Obama amended a 2003 Executive Order that gives the Federal government, as noted by Paul Joseph Watson, the power to mandate the apprehension and detention of Americans who merely show signs of respiratory illness.Ahhhhhhhh. So THAT'S what he's up to.

If the current patients are treated successfully, they will use that as an excuse to bring thousands here to the USA, to be put on 0bamacare and given citizenship and EBT cards.
Unthinkable? Sorry. Everything this administration does is beyond the pale.

President Ebola amended a 2003 Executive Order that gives the Federal government the power to mandate the apprehension and detention of Americans who merely show signs of respiratory illness. Doctor: You say you're having trouble breathing?
Patient: Yes.
Doctor: Well, let me start by asking a few questions. First, are you a registered Republican or DemocRAT?

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Looking at the map, I was surprised that most of these centers hug the coasts, where they are most likely to be needed. I’d expect our government to put the disease pens almost exclusively in the red states.

If you are showing signs of respiratory illness, no matter the cause, you can be placed in a detention facility where you will most likely contract ebola from someone who actually has the virus. This is outrageous. Note that Seattle is one of the cities that has a detention facility.
To: TurboZamboni
In anticipation of the virus hitting U.S. shores, President Obama has set the legal authorization to essentially declare martial law in stone. The U.S. military, including the National Guard, also has contingency plans in place. The ends justify the means.
