During a videotaped deposition before his death, Kyle admitted that parts of his story weren’t true. He also admitted that he tried to remove that story from the book after a friend warned him that if it wasn’t true Jesse could sue him, but he let his ghost writer and publisher talk him into keeping it.

Add to that all of the witnesses on his side admitted to drinking, some of them quite heavily, that night and that only one of them claimed to have seen the whole incident and it was an uphill battle for Kyle’s lawyer.

“Were there no witnesses to corroborate either version of events? “

There were, but a lot of conflicting testimony.

Jesse is sure a fur ball! He used to come on the Mike Trivisanno Show on WTAM here in Cleveland. He called himself “Mr. Blue.” The disguised his voice electronically, but,,,, he has such distinctive mannerisms, etc., that it was easy to tell just who Mr. Blue was! I’ve spent lots of time in recording studios, and I knew it was him after hearing one sentence. I emailed Mike and asked him when he was going to have Jesse “Blue” on again. No answer, but the next time he was on, they altered his voice even more!
If he comes on again, I’m going to call in and call him Jesse. But they’ll just bleep it out!

Jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict, as instructed. Instead, with the consent of both sides, they voted 8 to 2 in Ventura’s favor.

I see an appeal in the future, only an incompetent lawyer would ever agree to such terms!

Not necesssarily. Some of the local media are reporting that Kyle’s widow said she didn’t want to go through this again and just wanted to get it over with win or lose.

In a world full of silly nonsense this is just plain STUPID.
What the hell were these jurors thinking awarding that asshat Ventura a cent from the man’s widow? What morons...........

BS. Move the trial from St Paul to Dallas and Ventura loses. Lawyer for Mrs. Kyle a complete moron. Ventura doesn’t win without unanimous verdict. He would never get a unanimous verdict even in St Paul no matter how many times the case was tried.

That was a massive insult to putz’s everywhere! Ventura is the poster boy for disgusting, arrogant, garbage.

Sigh... verdicts like this are a clear reminder of just how far this nation has fallen (in large part due to corrupt public schools).

What a travesty.

I have Kyle's book in front of me and the real travesty was his attempt to embellish his personna as a tough guy via kicking ass in bar fights.......He should have stayed on the topic of warfare in Iraq and left it at that.

"Scruff Face" did nothing to warrant this libelous attack by Kyle and it should be noted that Kyle didn't have the guts to mention Jesse Ventura by name in the book. Was that a calculated legal outlet that ultimately misfired in case Kyle was brought to task to defend the statement? (which he was and has now lost)

Kyle brought this upon himself and now that he is tragically gone, his family is going to suffer for it. Words have meaning and actions have consequences......

With that being said, now that Ventura's name has been cleared, I suspect he will dispose of whatever monetary award he eventually receives in a just manner.........

From what I read the incident certainly happened.

For the first six months following the death of Trayvon Martin, what did you read about George Zimmerman?

First! I don't know what actually happened and neither does anyone else here.

But when looking at Ventura and Kyle I find it hard to believe that Kyle beat Ventura.

Remember, they were both SEALs.

A travesty of justice!!! The jury was probably stacked with left wing whack jobs who despise our military..a widow has to pay a guy who called our Veterans horrendous names right to the man’s face!! And how does the schmuck who did it get rewarded..1.8 million dollars..sickening!

Why would the defense attorney agree to having his client lose when he didn’t have to do that?

That makes zero sense unless there is some backroom deal that favors his client. Makes zero sense to me.

A little inside info.

The Kyle side was willing to go with the split jury because Ventura was suing for $15 million. He got $1.8 million.

Since the trial, Kyle's books have picked up in sales and the movie will be coming out in 2015 (directed by Clint Eastwood with Bradley Cooper as Kyle). Taya Kyle will be making a LOT more money none of which Ventura can touch. His suit has been satisfied for a far smaller amount than he wanted and he cannot sue again.

This a-hole gets his fraudulent blood money, but the world knows he is a POS and Taya Kyle and her kids will be more than set for life.
