In response to Russia’s aggressive actions in Ukraine, the U.S. government has issued a number of new sanctions against Russian companies. Among the companies targeted is Kalashnikov Concern, the arms manufacturing company that makes AK-47s.

Under the new sanctions, Americans who own a Kalashnikov Concern product, like an AK-47, that was “bought and fully paid for prior to the date of designation (i.e., no payment remains due to Kalashnikov Concern), then that product is not blocked and OFAC sanctions would not prohibit the U.S. person from keeping or selling the product in the secondary market, so long as Kalashnikov Concern has no interest in the transaction,”according to the Treasury Department.

"The AK-47 has made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the most widely spread weapon in the world, with 100 million Kalashnikov rifles currently in use. "

The AK is and has been produced many, many places, with a spectrum of quality. I understand that East German-built variants are thought by some to be some of the higher-quality versions.

I personally prefer the much higher quality and greater accuracy of AR variants, but if you wanna start a revolution somewhere, the AK is your gun.

I prefer the 7.62 round to the .223 varmint bullet.
The AK is an accurate weapon. Anyone saying to the contrary is just repeating what he’s heard.
Obama can take his latest executive order and stick it.

Owning an AK-47 is not enough of a reason to propagandize for a foreign enemy against the U.S.A., but that’s exactly why many are doing so.
