Sorry, G Larry, before the gov started the ATF in the 1930’s everybody was free to use, ignore or abuse by their own decision. The gov turned it into a witch hunt and has been the primary mover in much more new propaganda.

It’s called freedom if you are responsible enough to handle it.

yet the entire culture suffers from:

The impact to the mental development of our children, who continue to start use at a younger age,

The increased risk to the rest of us, from the impaired,

And the fact that a significant majority are NOT “responsible enough to handle it”.

Drugs have destroyed more lives and careers in my family, friends, and co-workers, than has alcohol.

So they resort to stealing for the next high

Which the War on Drugs doesn't stop them from getting, but does make expensive so they do more stealing. Another big government fail.

The War on Drugs hurts more than it helps: kids report that they can get pot (illegal for adults) more easily than cigarettes or beer (legal for adults).

The increased risk to the rest of us, from the impaired,

Increased compared to what?

Drugs have destroyed more lives and careers in my family, friends, and co-workers, than has alcohol.

And in my circle, it's been the opposite.

“The War on Drugs hurts more than it helps”

There’s an assertion not proven by your annecdotal example.

Increased risk compared to THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HIGH ON DRUGS BEING ZERO!!!

I’m not pretending to break through your haze filled reasoning.

My posts are for the rest still reading.
So, I’m done here.

Kids are the best authorities on what they can get - and this study result does support the harms of the WOD as it relates to your claimed concern about kids using drugs.

So, compared to your utopian fantasy. Go tit.

“Drugs have destroyed more lives and careers in my family, friends, and co-workers, than has alcohol.”

For my observances not only would I place alcohol way in front of drugs on the destroying lives/careers front I would also have to list a rather large leviathan-type federal gov out in front of all contenders for sheer madness and destructive power/effects.

I’ve often said we need law-breakers not law-makers, not criminals per se, but elected officials who would look to remove wasteful and unfair laws esp. those that are unconstitutional.

IOW restore all the peoples freedoms and let us see where personal accountability and responsibility lead rather than this nanny state.

My best friend's brother developed schizophrenia in his early 30's and I've often wondered if his pot use may have contributed to it.

What a horrible disease, Skip was a highly motivated individual, Vietnam vet, U. of Mich. grad, executive recruiter then his life went downhill.

In the early days he lost his business, his wife, his home and was actually living homeless on a beach until his brother was able to get legal intervention by the county judge......

Your article just proved my point - did you see how many more drunk drivers there were? Sure the smoker totals almost doubled but that should be expected, I’d rather see if it does not drop back down in the future before jumping to even more conclusions.

The research reported in the article indicates his genes contributed to both his schizophrenia and his propensity to use pot.

Yup - even after pot legalization 85% of DUIs involve something other than pot, doubtless alcohol in most cases. And yet somehow only pot, not alcohol, inspires Chicken Little hysterics.
