The Stupid Party
RedState ^ | June 12, 2014 | Erick Erickson

Less than twenty-four hours after the shockwaves of Eric Cantor’s defeat, the House Republican Party has decided to ignore the results as a meaningless anomaly.

They will expedite a leadership election to affirm the status quo with Cantor’s right hand, Kevin McCarthy, picked as Majority Leader.

McCarthy is squishy on a host of issues, bad on immigration, and not a friend of conservatives. House Republicans looked on the biggest electoral surprise of the year and are giving it the middle finger.

I didn't know this was official yet. I thought it was still up in the air.

Oh, well. Surprise, surprise, surprise.

And the Republican party IS the Stupid Party.

The gop-e was so upset that they are going all out to make sure cochran and alexander don’t suffer the same outcomes. Can’t have actual (possibly) conservatives taking seats in the congress now can they. Good old boy “our way or the highway” routine.

“and are giving it the middle finger.”

Well I am giving the middle finger right back at them. I figured this is what was going to happen. Next battle is Mississippi. Let’s give our support/money/votes to McDaniel and oust the RINO Thad Cochran.

And the Republican party IS the Stupid Party.

No truer words were spoken. Nothing the Party has done makes since at all and some are so damn interested in their reelection they are willing to trash conservatism. These idiots have helped to trash the Constitution almost as much as the communist Democrats.

By the way, miss Romney yet?

The conservative movement is dead unless we concentrate on removing the Republican leadership. We can broom every one of them in the general election. It is time to go nuclear on the party leaders.

Cantor is supporting his “good friend” McCarthy for the Leader position. I’m not holding my breath hoping those that are more conservative can stage a revolt of some sort and keep this from happening. The Stupid Party leadership can ignore this election to their peril because it shows/proves we CAN vote these bums out - it’s more a matter of political/We the People ‘will’ than money.

The republican party has become the right arm of the State. Nearly undistinguishable from the left arm but for the location of the thumbs.

It's not really the stupid party...We are the stupid constituents who think the Republican party actually represents us...

As long as there is a majority in the House who can can overrun the will of the people in favor of big money and big business, they will continue on the same path...Big business owns them...They are there because we can't stand the Democrats...

November, we have to push the GOP over the finish line to stop the Dems.

Temporarily.

Then we have to lay down the foundation of a new political party to replace them for 2016 and beyond.

Well of course. They can not be changed ... only thrown out. At a minimum, we need to stop voting for them. But ... look at SC. Not sure that’s gonna work but after Cantor’s defeat I am encouraged.

The GOPe has become as big an enemy of the American people as the Democrats.

The main difference is that the Democrats are open about it.

At least the GOP is consistent. They’ve been ignoring the will of the people since Reagan left office.

Good post. People are finally starting to figure this out.

The GOP is a Washington DC club that promotes the status quo. It has no interest in supporting conservative principles. None whatsoever.
