U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, on Wednesday said U.S. aid that has helped return Mexican cities like Ciudad Juárez to normalcy after years of violence should also be used to help Mexico secure its border with Central America and stem the growing tide of undocumented immigrants arriving in Texas.
“That 500-mile border between Guatemala and Mexico is a sieve,” Cornyn said during a conference call with reporters. “Once these unaccompanied minors or other adults get in to the hands of the gangs that smuggle them through areas controlled by the Zetas or other cartels, this is not a benign situation. This is a dangerous and deadly … journey.”
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said during the committee hearing that the administration’s deferred action for childhood arrivals, or DACA, was to blame for the spike. The program was initiated two years ago, and it allows qualified applicants who arrived in the U.S. as minors to obtain a work permit and a two-year reprieve from deportation proceedings.
“You can see sometime after [DACA], the numbers spike dramatically,” Cruz told Johnson during the committee hearing. “Is it really your testimony that granting amnesty to some 800,000 people who came here illegally as children had no effect in causing a dramatic increase of children being handed over to international drug cartels to be smuggled in here illegally?"

What we need to do is deploy our own army and invade the northern border states of Mexico. Administer martial law in these states and forcibly repatriate all US illegal aliens there. We would strictly control our original border but allow free passage on the southern borders of those states. Make it clear that we intend to stay until Mexico gets the situation under control. And if they cant get it under control invade the next tier of Mexican states. A serious problem requires a serious solution. It is a shame we wasted our military in Iraq and Afghanistan when they could have actually helped make our own country better! Of course we would have to wait until we have a serious administration in charge.

Senate panel gives $2 billion for child immigrants
A Senate appropriations panel voted Tuesday to give the Obama administration $2 billion
it requested to handle the dramatic increase in child immigrants caught trying to
illegally cross the Mexican border without their parents.
The money is more than $1.1 billion more than President Barack Obama initially asked
for in his budget proposal for the Health and Human Services division that cares
for and houses immigrant children caught alone at the border. It would effectively
come from yet unspecified changes in mandatory programs.
