A Southwest Virginia public school has violated the First Amendment according to the American Civil Liberties Union.

On May 22nd the A.C.L.U. sent Superintendent of Lee County Schools Mark Carter a letter saying immediate action needed to be taken after the A.C.L.U. received "a disturbing report of multiple First Amendment violations at Thomas Walker High School".

According to the letter sent by the A.C.L.U. it says based on the information they have received "school officials, including teachers and administrators, are actively promoting religious practices during school hours on school grounds as a part of official school activities".

(snip)

The A.C.L.U. asked Lee County school officials for written assurances within one week that "Till We Meet Again at Jesus' Feet" will be removed from this year's graduation program and that the other legal violations described will be remedied immediately.

"(Our) attorney has responded to the A.C.L.U. and as far as we know the situation is over, we have tried to comply with the law," said Carter.

Carter said the Ten Commandments have been taken down and the song has been taken out of graduation.

When are these cowardly school officials going to realize that the ACLU commies have no power or standing to sue, and that its bullying is all bluff?

The fear of the ACLU is out there. These school districts are so cowering in fear of defending a lawsuit, and perhaps also because we are so politically correct in this society nowadays, that they just give in.

Sad thing is, it’s quite possible that no laws were violated here. It is a liberal myth that ANY mention of God or Jesus or religion is a constitutional violation. ANY such mention is NOT necessarily a violation .

It isn’t a bluff and most school systems can’t afford the legal battle while the ACLU has deep pickets.

And yet, without a lawsuit even being discussed, they will spare no expense and roll over immediately when Jimmy wants to use Jane's bathroom.

There is no First Amendment violation.

None.

The First Amendment forbids Congress from restricting religious liberty.

A school board is not Congress, nor is it the government.

And school lockers are NOT private property.

I wish I became a lawyer, became rich, just so I could fight a-holes tlike the ACLU day and night.

At one time, you could make the case that the ACLU was needed. Same as with the unions - they served a need at the time too.

Problem is, they are not really needed any more but have zero intention of going the way of the dodo. Too many useless trough feeders grab their paychecks from these organizations and wouldn’t be able to cope in the real world. So they try to stay relevant and expand to places they shouldn’t be in.

Aren’t all schools bully-free zones now? Or is it just okay to bully Christians?

Tell the ACLU to screw off.

The ACLU is defeating us piecemeal. They and their atheist cohorts have more money than the small victims they pick on. And so they are able to intimidate or out-lawyer them and then use their defeat as precedent setting decisions to ensnare the entire country.

The solution is to set up an Anti-ACLU organization and fund the victims they attack.

And when they get the islamist takeover they’ve been working so hard for, these predominantly homosexuals and lesbians, and those who supported them, will be among the first herded into the stadiums.

Their remains will be shoveled out.

All it takes is one student and its a safe bet they already have one lined up and ready to go.

The ACLU can ask, but the school can tell them to take a hike. Exit 82 has it right. The USSC just did away with the issue of Church and State by stating that the First Amendment regarding religion only applies to Congress, and the ACLU knows it!

If I’m not mistaken, Thomas More Law Center has fought the ACLU scumbags for similar reasons.

They prolly aren’t budgeted for such things. It’s unfortunately a pragmatic factor of costs — however, I would support a community fight against these idiots.

Thomas Moore does fight these bastards. We need more - a Catholic/Protestant/Conservative Jewish Alliance to beat these creeps at their own game.

Constitution - Article 1, Section 16:

That religion or the duty which we owe to our Creator, and the manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force or violence; and, therefore, all men are equally entitled to the free exercise of religion, according to the dictates of conscience; and that it is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity towards each other. No man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief; but all men shall be free to profess and by argument to maintain their opinions in matters of religion, and the same shall in nowise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities. And the General Assembly shall not prescribe any religious test whatever, or confer any peculiar privileges or advantages on any sect or denomination, or pass any law requiring or authorizing any religious society, or the people of any district within this Commonwealth, to levy on themselves or others, any tax for the erection or repair of any house of public worship, or for the support of any church or ministry; but it shall be left free to every person to select his religious instructor, and to make for his support such private contract as he shall please.

.

It looks to me like the Anti-Christ Lawyers Union is trying to violate Article I, Section 16 by forcing its religion (humanism) contrary to the will of the Commonwealth.
