The Israeli ambassador to the United States late Monday slammed the Obama administration for its willingness to work with the new Palestinian unity government formed earlier that day.
Ambassador Ron Dermer expressed in a series of statements on Twitter that Israel is deeply disappointed.
Dermer said Hamas, which has united with the Fatah party, is a terrorist organization that has murdered hundreds of Israelis, and launched thousands of rockets at Israeli cities.
Hamas remains committed to our destruction, Dermer said.
So a Palestinian technocratic government backed by Hamas should be treated accordingly, Dermer tweeted. With suits in the front office and terrorists in the back office, it should not be business as usual.
State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters Monday afternoon that the United States is willing to work with the newly formed government.
It appears that President Abbas has formed an interim technocratic government that does not include ministers affiliated with Hamas, Psaki said. Moving forward, we will be judging this government by its actions. Based on what we know now, we intend to work with this government, but well be watching closely to ensure that it upholds the principles that President Abbas reiterated today.
Dermer said he appreciated strong statements from both Democrats and Republicans in Congress Monday against the new unity government.
Several lawmakers, including House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), called for a suspension in aid to the Palestinians.

They’re disappointed! How do you think we feel?
They’re not the only ones. Hoping for better day ahead.
I agree with them.
Would someone other than Ted Cruz grow a pair?
Maybe, in their zeal to fix their problem, they might also fix our problem......
What do you expect when we have a muslim in the WH.

Disappointed, not surprised
I’d be disappointed if I thought he was going to be different.
Disappointed? Welcome to the club.
Yippee cay ay, puta madre!
Join us Israel. We’re disappointed too.
Oh, I’m way past disappointed.
Israel at least is finally beginning to understand the obvious, that they have to deal with an enemy regime now in washDC. They can handle it. And they have a far more powerful friend backing them than any temporary satanic fiend(s) like UKnowWho. ( It must be very painful though, to have to endure al let hourly lies and insults from those who’ve taken over your former friend’s house.). All this anti-semitism is sure embarrassing for the millions and millions of good Americans who never thought it could happen here.
LOL, yep ya got me there..., no kidding.
If Israel had proof in 2008, as I suspect it did, that Obozo was a Kenyan and not eligible to run for president, yet did nothing to get it out there, then I hope it is feeling a little disappointed with itself as well.
They didn’t see this coming? I did the moment the election results were in, in November 2008.
