The country chose the wrong path when it perceived the serious homicidal violence framework in which it was immersed. Seeking solutions that were far from the real cause of the problem that only intended to transfer the responsibility for it to society. The results were catastrophic. Today the Brazilian killer framework is the worst since it began to be measured almost 35 years ago.
The disarmament concept was officially introduced in Brazil in 1997 when the first effectively restrictive gun-bearing law was enacted intended for strict control of legal weapons circulation. Four years later, with the near extinction of the legal arms trade practice, the numbers came to 50,113. Since then they've been on a upward climb until the record of 56,337 in 2012.
The law thus does not contribute to a reduction of homicides, but has provoked a massive uncontrolled circulation of arms in the country producing an effect diametrically opposed to the desired one. The practical reality of the ideological disarmament experiment ended up indicating that the reduction of weapons legally in circulation generates an increase in the amount of intentionally violent deaths.

Crazy isn’t it? I looked at Russia’s gun policy. Was more relaxed than I imagined. One thing interesting was anyone purchasing a gun HAD TO HAVE a permanent residence/address where they actually lived. Not really such a terrible idea.

Brazil is no exception to the true reason behind governments restricting citizen arms, tyranny, which can not subrogate a well armed citizenry. “Public safety” is just the sham cover story.
The liberals are not so stupid as to actually believe the hype they are spouting, i.e. that laws disarming the law abiding will affect crime. No, they need the public disarmed to prevent an armed revolution against their socialist schemes.
Sure they do. They will simply never admit it. Because gun control isn't about guns. It is about control.
Were they to admit that they understand the simple truth related in this article then gun control becomes all about guns. And THAT they will never allow to happen.
Brazil, where only the criminals are armed and law-abiding citizens wish they were.
