Cruz sounds tepid on McConnell; Cornyn calls for party unity

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had vowed to crush the tea party in this spring’s primaries. His decisive win on Tuesday over a tea party challenger in Kentucky’s GOP primary has fueled plenty of establishment-over-tea party stories.

Let’s just say the war ain’t over.

“After the primary is over, it’s really the responsibility of everyone who wants to see a change in Washington, D.C., come November to support our candidates,” said Texas Sen. John Cornyn, McConnell’s deputy GOP Senate leader, who survived a much more tepid tea party onslaught in his own primary in early March.

Cornyn singled out Kentucky’s junior senator, tea party darling and 2016 presidential hopeful Rand Paul, for pitching in with McConnell’s reelection effort.

Cornyn singled out Kentucky’s junior senator, tea party darling and 2016 presidential hopeful Rand Paul, for pitching in with McConnell’s reelection effort. “Rand Paul has done an admirable job of trying to bring the party together,” Cornyn said.

No mention of Sen. Ted Cruz. Texas’ other senator, like Paul, is a tea party freshman with White House ambitions. But unlike Paul, Cruz has been quietly at war with the party’s establishment.

They sure got that right, the GOPe/libertarians knows who is theirs, and who isn't.

Yes, no mention of when the “Tea Party” and the establishment are the SAME side. Examples being Rand Paul campaigning for entrenched GOP insiders, the Tea Party groups who endorsed Liz Cheney, the bi-partisan combiner and anointed GOP candidate Bruce Rauner getting help from most of the Illinois “Tea Party” groups to win the GOP nomination, etc.

When is Mitch going to start taking on rustler Reid on a daily basis?

I’m not sure what you mean by that until you post the examples, but I do believe that Paul is fading some among tea party people, as he becomes more open about his libertarianism/rinoism.

I hope so. His supporters around here have been quiet lately, but just a month or two ago they were vehemently denying that Rand Paul was for amnesty and claiming it was an evil smear to discredit his chances in 2016.

The GOPe’s trashed and bragged about crushing conservatives.
Why would any conservative crawl over glass to give these hacks
power?

McConnell has a real problem on his hands.
He only won his last election by 6%
He got about 950,000 votes and that was a high turnout Presidential
election cycle.

He can’t afford to lose more than 10%-12% of KY conservatives he has
pissed off or his goose is cooked.
If McConnell is behind in the polls 2 weeks to a month before the polls
look for him to announce he will not seek re-election to his leaderless post, as a final attempt for the GOP to keep the seat. That may be enough to
get KY conservatives he needs to the polls. We shall see how KY react
in the coming polls.

By ‘Party Unity’, Cornyn means the Republican Party unifying with the Democrat Party in enacting the Democrat agenda.

Mike Enzi was a good endorsement. Dick Cheney went on Fox News and said that he and Bush got 44% of the hispanic vote which is exaggeration.
Best estimate is 39%.

Ted Yoho was another good Rand endorsement.
Yoho called Steve King a conservative leader.

Jack Kingston will be another Mike Enzi.

We don’t need more Jeff Flakes and Rubios.

Rand fundraising with Cornyn and George, P Bush hispandering was an example of his Randmesty agenda.

Party unity? From the creep who publicly declared war on Conservatives and vowed to "crush us wherever we find them"???

Over my dead body willI EVER surrender my principles to vote for McConnell or his ilk.

The GOPe’s trashed and bragged about crushing conservatives. Why would any conservative crawl over glass to give these hacks power?

We won't. I vow to spend whatever efforts I have to defeat McConnell in the General election. Write-In, 3rd Party - whomever. I'd rather the seat go to a Democrat than the guy who declared war on us.

It was made plain and clear the Ruling Class Establishment GOP want Conservatives GONE from the GOP.

They got their wish as far as I'm concerned.

At least with the MarxoFascist Democrats we know who the enemy is. Our own general betrays us, assists the enemy behind our backs and has his minions slit our throats while we sleep in the GOP camp. A traitor is a far greater evil than the enemy who is openly your enemy before you.

Those didn’t say much, one asked a question it couldn’t answer and the other was about “Sal Russo, a co-founder of the Tea Party Express, declared his support for amnesty for illegal aliens in the United States”.

Your post 6 was pretty hostile to the tea party, and which tea party groups got behind Liz Cheney?

“It was made plain and clear the Ruling Class Establishment GOP want Conservatives GONE from the GOP.”

Maybe that is why the GOPe’s want amnesty so badly.

They think they can replace conservative votes with a new coalition
of Mexican voters.
