Posted on 05/17/2014 10:49:51 AM PDT by Hoodat
A New York City cab driver insisted Friday that it is his right, hands down, to wear a Nazi armband even if the Taxi and Limousine Commission says otherwise.
As CBS 2s Lou Young reported Friday evening, Gabriel Diaz, 26, spoke outside of his familys home in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, after he was suspended for wearing a swastika while driving the cab.
I am. Im a National Socialist what you guys call a Nazi. I am. Im a believer of it, Diaz said.
Diaz was suspended for wearing the armband while driving his cab.
Not just once, but multiple times, photos sent to the Anti-Defamation League and to the Taxi and Limousine Commission sparked an investigation.
Diaz told Young he knew the symbol would offend some people, but denied being anti-Semitic.
I dont hate Jews. Im critical of them, but I dont hate them. That doesnt mean that Im anti-Semitic. That dont make me a hater, Diaz said. Who says you have to be white to be a National Socialist? You dont have to be white, it can by anybody. . . .

Irony is the real Nazis would have killed guys like him in the death camps.
A Michael Jackson fan ?
Maybe. Some blacks were in the Hitler youth, most were just segregated and underwent compulsory sterilization. Some served in the military.
Didn't National Socialists start calling themselves Nazis?
A black Nazi? I don’t think the term means what he thinks it means. If/When he got around a real bunch, he would be thought of as worse that dog waste. If this guy is bold enough, stupid enough to give interviews with name and face, the taxi company should ponder if they want publically avowed NAZIS working for them. He actually looks Ethiopian or Somali, not like your average American black man. Perhaps therein lies the feeling of not quite belonging. A thug in search of a gang.
I think he is a non-white Hispanic.
Fire the guys wearing the Che t-shirts too, please!
Not necessarily: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_people_in_Nazi_Germany
He is probably Puerto Rican
If he's referring to the mid-twentieth-century German national socialists, then the answer is "everyone". He's the wrong guy to be wearing a Swastika armband. It's a simple tautology. The "National" refers to a nation defined by race -- it's what distinguished the NAZIs from the Soviet Communists, who professed to be about international socialism.
However, in another sense, he's quite correct. The guy's hispanic -- he could join the race-based "La Raza" (it means "the race" -- so, again tautologically, it's a race-based organization). Perhaps "La Raza" isn't as overtly socialist as the earlier "La Raza Unida Party"; but, you can be certain that it's not a free-enterprise party. The cabbie wants to be a national socialist, he's Hispanic -- he could wear an arm band with a "La Raza" symbol, and no one would dare bother him about it.
Interesting, I would have thought they’d been sent to the camps for sure.
This is probably why, according to Wiki:
“Beyond the compulsory sterilization program in the Rhineland, there was no coherent Nazi policy towards African Germans.
In one instance, when local officials petitioned for guidance on how to handle an Afro-German who could not find employment and had become a repeat criminal offender, they were told the population was too small to warrant the formulation of any official policy and to settle the case as they saw fit.
Due to the rhetoric at the time, Black Germans experienced discrimination in employment, welfare, and housing, and were also barred from pursuing a higher education.”
“The National Socialist German Workers Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) better known as the NSDAP or the Nazi Party “
You mean the National Council of La Raza. It’s not a party, but an advocacy group. They’re trying to be pan-Latino in a way that the older Chicano-based party wasn’t, but this guy isn’t Mexican and might well prefer Nordics to the Aztecs.
Isn’t this really opening the proverbial can of worms?
NOT that the LIBS care about that...
If it is a Govt regulation that the guy can’t wear his Arm Band, in the same respect couldn’t they tell me I can’t wear a VN Vet cap?
A driver can’t wear a Red Sox Cap?
Would they DARE tell a Muslim that he can’t wear his traditional mufti?
Would they dare tell a Jew he couldn’t wear a Yarmulke?
Would they dare tell a Sheik he can’t wear his Turban?
etc etc etc
Of course their response would be the Nazi symbol may ‘upset’ some people.... I agree but if I were to complain that a Muslim driver upset me (because of his dress, smell etc ...actually Smell for all) they would tell me tough, get another cab or find another way - IT IS DISCRIMINATION to tell ___________________ he can’t dress in HIS tradition.
Granted, if the guy shows up for his job, gets his Face, is wearing the now ‘unacceptable’ gear he has a leg to stand on.
However, if I am doing the hiring and tell you that I can’t/won’t hire you (for any of the examples cited above), I am opening myself up to lawsuits.
I would imagine that if you showed up for the interview and were wearing a suit and tie or even slacks and open collared shirt, got hired and then showed up for work in ‘traditional mufti’, YOU would have a case against the guy (or gal....or in today’s world the ??????) if he claims he always wears it or it is his ‘religious’ beliefs.
This transgender thing is really going to get interesting..
Makes one want to buy up all the popcorn companies in the world.
The comments at the link are a trip!
I hate Mexican Nazis.
Obscure Blues Brothers reference.
You might find this interesting. It’s based on a true story. The subtitles are enough. The mechanical voice over dubbing is unnecessary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzqxQ_-rYqs
I hate Mexican Nazis.
“I’ve always loved you. “
Is this really a result of modern-day liberal political correctness?
Compared to what would have happened to somebody who tried this back in the 1940s he's getting off easy.
Suspended by a rope would be good.
Diaz is a Spanish Name.
The Spanish are considered white and while they remained neutral in WWII were asked by Hitler to join the Axis.
There are thousands of Spanish Nazi’s to this day
The Spanish dictator, General Francisco Franco, whose apologists usually claim that he protected Jews, ordered his officials to draw up a list of some 6,000 Jews living in Spain and include them in a secret Jewish archive.
That list was handed over to the Nazi architect of the so-called “final solution”, the German SS chief Heinrich Himmler, as the two countries negotiated Spain’s possible incorporation into the group of Axis powers that included Italy, according to the El País newspaper today.
The newspaper printed the original order, recently unearthed from Spanish archives, that instructed provincial governors to elaborate lists of “all the national and foreign Jews living in the province ... showing their personal and political leanings, means of living, commercial activities, degree of danger and security category”.-Guardian UK
He does. The cab company can fire him, but the State via the regulatory Agency can not.
He has the right to wear a nazi symbol and his employer has to right to fire his stupid ass. Let him start up his own cab company and let’s see how well he does.
The Nazis were an advocacy group for Aryans.
I wrote my comment without first looking at the photos that accompany the article. I made an unwarranted assumption, based on the cabbie’s last name. Sometimes, it isn’t enough to just “read the article” — you have to look at the photos too.
These news sites play havoc with my computer.......After 15 minutes I still couldn’t load the video......
If I were the dispatcher at that company, I would send the guy to 1938 Kristallnacht Avenue in Queens for a pick-up and tell him his ass was on the line if he didn’t show up there within half an hour.
“Well, let me tell you something, Mr Hynee Kraut. We fought your kind in the Big War, and we kicked the livin’ s__t out of ya’.”

I am presuming you are just referring to the cab driver?
My life in the work force began in early 50’s (as a teen ager) and if a person told you he didn’t want you working for him that pretty much ended the quest for the job, you went to the next possibility.
I remember in the mid 70’s Blacks weren’t being hired because of ‘corn rows’.
During that period etc if a Black were to go in a ‘Biker Bar’ and they had Rebel Flags etc hanging around it may be a good idea not to frequent the place, NOT go sue because they didn’t want to serve you, scowled at you or you were offended by the Stars and Bars.
Drop the Black from above and a lot of Whites would do well to NOT be there.
What happened to the concept if you don’t want me in your place of business NO MATTER WHAT REASON, then I don’t think I want to be helping you along the road to riches.
No different than if you walk into a place and they have BO or Pelosi pictures and you say you don’t like the atmosphere, the owner should be able to tell you that you can leave, you suing him for offending you is ludicrous.
Like ‘we’ have been saying recently, it is definitely a Bizzarro world when I, as the owner of a bakery, AM FORCED to put whatever YOU want on a cake but if I express my religious or moral views, my bank can ‘fire’ me, if they don’t want me as a customer, fine, but NONE of this should be in the hands of courts or judges.
The only difference — ideologically — between the Nazis and the Commies is that the former were NATIONAL Socialists, and the latter were INTERNATIONAL Socialists.
Exactly right. They both had similar views about the value of an individual’s life too.
I was shocked at the large number of black extras they had in the movie..thinking how the hell would they have that many black people in Nazi Germany
but consider that the Nazis had no problem have alliances with non whites...
The Japanese for one..
Arab for another...
The Arabs particular ironic since they are a Semitics people like Jews are
The flip side is the Nazi made mostly of war on what would be considered white people, British, French Poles Czechoslovakians Russians etc..most of Europe.
When you factor the Japanese another non Caucasian allies of the Nazis, a case to be made that the axis Alliance was more non white then the Allied Alliance...
Is that were we got the old WW2 battle cry
Cinco de Bismarck ?

You would just disappear into the dumpster wrapped up in a roll of carpet. No lawsuit, no police report. Just a guy who never showed up for his first day on the job. I guess he got a better job somewhere else.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
He does, and should. He has no right to a job.
That movie sounds like a hoot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%BCnchhausen_(film)
