MSNBC Cheers 'Feisty Campus Dissent' Forcing Commencement Speakers to 'Drop Like Flies'
News Busters ^ | May 15 2014 | Ken Shepherd

"Feisty campus dissent is back. And it’s winning," exulted msnbc.com's Aliyah Frumin in her May 15 story, teased on the main page with the header, "Commencement speakers drop like flies." [see screen capture below page break]

"In the last few weeks alone, campaigns at three schools forced commencement speakers to pass up significant speaker fees rather than face angry campuses," Frumin noted, adding that "[t]he last-minute cancellations have proved embarrassing to school leaders" and conceding that in turn they "have raised concerns about free speech and exposure to opposing views in settings designed to foster free thought." Although Frumin did not thread the needle on this point, it's pretty clear from her reporting that it's left-wing pressure groups forcing speakers to drop out on the basis of liberal complaints, while left-leaning speakers seem to face little or no pressure to back down from a speaking gig and/or have the full-throated backing of the campus administration in the event conservatives would protest [emphasis mine]:

For their part, msnbc.com readers seem to be squarely in the camp of left-wing student agitators, judging by the results of the non-scientific reader poll at the bottom of Frumin's story. "A number of high-profile leaders are withdrawing as 2014 commencement speakers. Overall, did they make the right decision?" asked the poll.

This is not “dissent”, it is elite leftist mobocracy in action.

So I guess this means they were super happy when Michelle Obama wasn’t allowed to speak at a Missouri school graduation?? Oh no wait, they were probably against that one

"Remember all our self-congratulations about diversity on campus being our strength?   Haha!   We were lying!

But you didn't stop us then (which was the real test), so now we're back, even stronger with version 2.0--on steroids--so don't even bother thinking you'll catch up to us, let alone stop us!"

No. Colleges are a hotbed of marxism. They are getting excited and are afraid of losing the country to the normal people, so they are stepping up their attacks on anyone who disagrees with the party line.

The new rub is the infiltration into student organizations by multinational Islamists. They allied well with the existing antisemitic Left.

MSNBC clearly missed a good bet when they failed to heap on the praise for China’s Red Guards during Mao’s Cultural Revolutuon.

They obviously don’t intend to make the same mistake twice.

In the movie “Network” one of UBS’ shows was “The Mao Tse-Tung Hour.”

Hour-long drama focusing on the activities of the Ecumenical Liberation Army urban guerrillas. The show opens with authentic footage of the Ecumenicals committing a terrorist act, with the remainder of the show being the fictitious story behind the footage.

College campuses are nothing more than left wing gathering places. Schools like UCLA that now breed more Anti Semitism than I have ever seen before. They wanted to ban Israeli products from being sold on campus..Ben Shapiro, a UCLA alumni, was so outraged by it he went to the school as the voting was taking place..its now “cool” to hate Jews, but anyone says ANYTHING about a gay person or Islam and they lose everything

The worst example of a commencement speaker that I know of is still Mumia Abu Jamal at Evergreen College here in WA. Of course it was done remotely because he’s locked up in PA. There were protests, I understand, but the people who didnt like it didnt succeed in getting him dropped. It still boggles my mind that they would do something like this.

Which college is that at? Are they tossing some pro-life group’s free newspapers on the bonfire?

Its a student governmental body representing a range of universities, in some country or other.

But its certain some socialist or other is cooking up a similar organization with similar inclinations here in the good ol' USA.

In other news, 383 students were arrested for protesting Venezuela’s corrupt government.

MSNBC’s response:

...silence...
