So, unless [elite Special Forces action] . . . is being lined up, those schoolgirls are headed into slavery, and the wretched pleading passivity of Mrs Obama's hashtag is just a form of moral preening.

But then what isn't? The blogger Daniel Payne wrote this week that "modern liberalism, at its core, is an ideology of talking, not doing".

Theodore Roosevelt said, “It is not the critic who counts . . . the credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena . . .” That is what “liberalism" used to mean everywhere - and what it continued to mean elsewhere, long after the inversion of the meaning of the word in America in the 1920s.

In America now, “The idea around which ‘liberalism' coheres is that NOTHING actually matters except PR.” Which I adopted as my tagline there for a while . . .

Once understand that “liberalism” is simply PR uber alles, and the reason why the masters of PR - “objective” journalists - would be simpatico with “liberalism” becomes excruciatingly obvious.

As to why journalists are able to coalesce around a single ideology, and to monopolize the claim to “objectivity,” that is precisely the sort of “conspiracy against the public” which is, and Adam Smith asserted in Wealth of Nations, only to be expected when “People of the same trade” "meet together" as persistently as journalists communicating via the Associated Press newswire do.
