Zero Hedge
Where you exist in your familys birth order can profoundly inform your path in life, whether because of genetics or simply the way that family members tend to treat firstborns vs. middle children vs. youngest children. Psychologists have been debating the Why? since the 1800s, but, as ConvergEx's Nick Colas notes, the outcome is certain regardless of the cause the effects of birth order last for a lifetime...
For example, firstborn kids are often rules-following and do better in society, while younger children tend to be revolutionaries, artists and so forth. Only children generally act like firstborns. Todays Note from ConvergEx explains how birth order matters through the lens of a top 10 list of things you should know about birth order psychology. After all, much of business and investing depends on your ability to evaluate people, and this is another useful tool.
Note From Nick: If you had to size up a stranger and you could only ask them one question, what would it be? For me, the answer is simple: Where are you in the birth order of your siblings? Are you a first/only child, or a later born? As Beth outlines today, the answer is quite telling. By virtue of genetics or childrearing (the debate rages there), birth order matters a lot to the person you become.
Question: What do Hillary Clinton, Marissa Mayer, Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé have in common? Answer: They are all firstborn girls. Who all happen to be on the Forbes list of most powerful women in the world. And if you consult findings from the vast field of birth order psychology, youll see that there is probably more than coincidence

Hardly ‘news or activism’. This is old old old. It has been around as a theory for the better part of three decades. Sociologists and psychologists need things to study. This is just one of them. Why not put this in general chat if you feel the need to post it???
Damn, I was wrong again. I was going to go with at least three out four were whores of one type or another.
I can not resist lists of TENS!!!
I would read the list of the TEN most compassionate things to do with a Ziploc bag of diarrhea...
Hitlary was not birthed.
All I know is being the youngest of 6 and always getting picked on made me pretty good in a fight when I was older.
I can not resist lists of TENS!!!
Me, either.
By the way, the trait of finding lists of tens irresistible is related to the trait of choosing Latin screen names.
;-)
bttt
This doesn’t interest me. I just dropped in to request that you not post things that don’t interest me, or if you simply must, at least post it in a category I don’t read, like chat or whatever. Oh wait, I read all the categories. Just don’t post things that don’t interest me. Okay? /s
None of my siblings nor Hubby and his sibling fit this pattern. We must be the outliers.
This is pure garbage.
.
Ideo recte decem!
It has been around longer than that. Try a few thousand years or more.
I had three older siblings, but the youngest was 16 when I was born and all three were out of the house by the time I was two, so I was essentially both the youngest AND an only child (talk about a recipe for being spoiled rotten)...
Is there a top 10 list of the best top 10 lists?
The real question is are you offended?
I think this is a well timed and placed article. Bring it up for discussion at Mothers Day Sunday brunch. Then stand back and watch everyone leave in tears!!
And how! Would you care to hear the ten different ways I’m offended?
This one's weird...
