The family of a Texas teenager who killed four people in a drunken-driving wreck has agreed to pay more than $2 million to the family of a boy left paralyzed by the accident.
Tarrant County court documents show that the liability insurer of Ethan Couchs parents agreed to pay more than $1 million in cash and the rest in two annuities to a trust established for Sergio Molina.

That guy should spend many years in prison. Plus the taxpayers should not be paying 30k a month for his “therapy”
This man stole from a store, drove drunk and killed four people, and he’s off enjoying a luxurious rehabilitation facility.
There is no justice in this country. I can’t imagine how the victims’ families avoid going insane with rage.
Two million. That won’t even cover the costs of his medical care for the next twenty years.
Bad headline. If the article is right, it should read “ Affluenza teens family to pay pay victim nothing. Insurance company gets stuck with bill.”
That was my thought. Not nearly enough.
Q1. “...stole....drove drunk...killed four people..off enjoying a luxurious rehabilitation facility.....no justice in this country.”
Q2. “Two million. That wont even cover the costs of his medical care for the next twenty years.”
A1. “Special rights” of a plutocracy becoming a nobility. Like pre-Rev France, the laws for thee, not for me.
2.”Weregeld”. Payment in return for a life. One more sign of a culture devolving into the soulless pagan barbarity from which it rose.
Equal rights, protection and responsibility under the law....or no law at all should be our standard.
Sad days for freedom and justice. Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Don’t let the bastards win.
Justice has always been different for those with money and power.
The Judge that sentenced this guy to rehabilitation, I would like to know how much money that Judge got.
IF he did that to my family member, he`d be tried by bolt and executed by a crossed T.
Sounds like the family itself is paying nothing; their insurance company is making the payment.
Modern day Weregeld.
Is the headline accurate? Or are the insurance companies paying so that the parents don’t have to pass out some (for them) pocket change.
At taxpayer expense!
It’s AP. Sometimes remarkably accurate, but most of the time heavily slanted.
And it was reported earlier that the family won't even have to pay much at all for the boys court ordered rehab. The citizens of the state of Texas gets that privilege.
“Pay on sliding scale” doesn’t sound like it’s going to slide in the favor of a filthy rich family.
