UN committee on torture slams Vatican over child sex abuse
RT ^ | May 5 2014 | RT

The Vatican attempted to minimize its culpability over the Catholic Church’s child sexual abuse scandal as a UN committee on torture grilled the institution over it alleged “climate of impunity” which has prevailed for decades.

In a two-hour hearing in Geneva, the Committee Against Torture was unrelenting in its questioning of the Vatican delegation, asking about past policy decisions, the juridical distinction between the Holy See and Vatican City, and information on specific cases, Reuters reports.

The Vatican, which is set to issue a formal answer on Tuesday, said the church has been cleaning house for the past decade and was determined to protect children further with a series of measures, which they say has led to a decline in cases of sexual abuse by priests.

Thanks PoloSec. Gee, I wonder if the UN slammed the entire Domain of Islam for its child abuse, pedophilia, female circumcision, honor [sic] killings, terrorism...

What is most interesting to me is the source you selected. This is being covered by many outlets and the best you can come up with is RT?????

And then the snarky little tag to go with it....I gather you have an agenda that is oh soooo evident

So the Vatican should be held to a lower standard because of Hollywood?

... why the UN is still relevant?

Because they bribe and brainwash useful idiots to think the UN can lead the world to nirvana...

What about them providing “ambulances” for islamanazis to transport weapons and explosives to murder civilians under the guise of “humanitarian aid”?

Anything to obfuscate, eh? Utterly sickening.

Gosh, thank goodness there is no connection between U.N. personnel and child abuse, child sexual abuse and rape of young women! But then who is going to call the U.N. to task?

I think attacking the Vatican and ignoring the same thing elsewhere is disingenuous and smacks of playing favorites or politics. Who is on this committee? Iran? Burma? North Korea? Saudi Arabia?

I am so tired of having to say this: The Catholic Church sent the offending priests to psychologists who swore they could reform them. The psychologists later said, ‘Whoops!” We can’t do it. So the church was blamed. Why not the psychologists?

Also, many, many years ago, the commies sent their own men to pretend to be Catholic and to become members of the church. They infiltrated the church, and some have been elevated to bishop, etc. Now, who was the Russian who said, “Well bury you and we’ll do it from inside”?

“So the Vatican should be held to a lower standard because of Hollywood?”

Should Hollywood be held to a lower standard because of the Catholic Church?

Of course they should, and they are attacked precisely because they do have higher standards. You don’t see the left attacking NAMBLA or abuse in schools or Hollywood because the left does not oppose pedophilia, they oppose the Catholic Church and this issue was just convenient.

Point of fact: the last 3 or 4 times UN agencies have "called the Catholic Church to task" on "sex abuse" issues, what they really wanted to do was pound away on Catholic Church teachings on contraception, sterilization, abortion, LGBT and the whole damn agenda of gender confusion, marriage deconstruction and sexual disorder now known as "Human Rights" (LINK).

For those of you who have not been able to quite keep up.

Oops, meant to ping you.

And BTW, of course the Church should be held to a higher standard. Good God.

"What is most interesting to me is the source you selected. This is being covered by many outlets and the best you can come up with is RT?????"

As to the source RT, I didn't cruse around looking for this story, I checked RT and there it was, I double checked their site and there is no evidence of anti-catholic bias.  I have made at least 10 posts or more today, from about 10 different sources.

"And then the snarky little tag to go with it....I gather you have an agenda that is oh soooo evident"

The only snark is the above comment, I have no affiliation with any religious denomination, they all suffer the same weaknesses.

Jesus Christ is my life...This is my agenda: (Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;) and preaching the gospel.

Do not attempt to reflect your own bitterness on me, which is as you said " is oh soooo evident"

And as for my comment "Just posting the news" that was in anticipation of false accusations from religious zealots, but then there is always at least one.
