The U.S. economy nearly stalled in the first quarter as weakness overseas hurt exports and frigid weather curtailed business investment.
While the latest figures are "certainly eye catching, we do not find it to be representative of the underlying health of the U.S. economy," said Richard Moody, chief economist at Regions Financial Corp. "Anyone tempted to panic ... should just take a breath."
The latest numbers continue a familiar pattern. The nation's economic recovery, which started in mid-2009, has been marked as much for its choppiness as its slow pace.

If it weren’t for the Affordable Care Act it actually would have contracted.
Their reporting the 0.1% figures shows me that they just wanted to tip it over the line for now. Then they’ll likely revise the figures which show contraction when no one is paying attention
All more of what comes out of the South end of a Northbound bull. They subtract an artificially low inflation factor from the gross GDP to yield the GDP figure they report.
Problem is, they don’t include energy or food when they calculate inflation. Those two items have become wildly inflated in price.
If they used true inflation which includes all price increases for everything, GDP would be negative and looking back, we’d see that GDP has been negative since Obama took office.
In other words - THEY LIE!

That’s wishful thinking. As long as BO is President and Valerie in charge, it will never be negative nor will the unemployment numbers rise.
If we ever have a decent President again and the real numbers come out they will all be viewed as just political lies. Everyone in DC - Republicans as well as Democrats - were to post the true economic and unemployment numbers, the roof would come off.
Leftists like Obama are insane. They do all the wrong, time-proven destroyers of an economy, and then seem surprised when the economy doesn’t take off like a rocket.
When an Obama administration department reports 0.1% growth, you know they’re actually covering up a contraction. A contraction that by this summer could officially be classified as a recession. So you know the truth won’t come out, including their usual trick of next-period adjustment, until after November.
As long as they’re in the wheel house they couldn’t care less.
