Maine is starting to issue welfare benefit cards with photos on them despite a request from the federal government to wait.
...
the U.S. Department of Agriculture asked Maine to delay its plan, saying that it risks a loss of federal funding or litigation if it violates regulations in the program.
But DHHS said it will move forward with its plan designed to combat fraud and abuse in the program.

“the U.S. Department of Agriculture asked Maine to delay its plan,”
An educated electorate would ask why? Our current electorate will scream racism.

This must be LePage. Maine has a great governor. He began his life running away from home at age 12. He never went back. And now he’s the governor. Interestingly, he has a brother on welfare. Apparently, they don’t get along. (Heard on the Howie Carr Show.)

That’ll never happen in Massachusetts while Presidential candidate “Coupe Deval” is Governor of the Gay State. It's racist...it marginalizes the most vulnerable among us...it discriminates against LBQT....it only benefits the 1%....

If americans really understood the depth and width of welfare fraud that goes on every single day, they would be hanging their congressman from lamp posts....
I would estimate at minimum 50 % of these receiving entitlements actually don’t qualify. ..

Yes, that’s our Gov.
It will be rolled out in a small area first.
I attended a few if the committee hearings about abuse in the system.
The career bureaucrats are dragging their feet about ANY kind of welfare reform.
They will figure out a way to sabotage this effort.

Eligibility for food stamps is difficult to lose, and last I knew wasn’t permitted as sanctions when a client receives too much aid in some other area, or in that one. For example, they get food stamps and medicaid for three kids, but two of the kids wind up spending the summer with an aunt out of state, and the mother doesn’t report the change. When (that is, if) it is discovered, or reported later (that does happen), one or more grants get reduced by more than that amount in order to recoup the difference. Food stamps just goes down to the level that is appropriate at the time (based on mouths to feed), but the overage is never repaid.

And I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of those on welfare in Maine are white.
You see, welfare and welfare fraud are not race issues.

Laz made no reference to race whatsoever in the post you’re replying to.
To: Vermont Lt
I hope that was meant as sarcasm, by the way.
