I don’t recall how it happened, but several years ago, I tuned into some radio station where hate speech was pouring into the air waves. I cannot remember the content, just that it was bitter, resentful, and full of lies. The hate spewer did say her name sometime during the few minutes I heard her rant.
I can’t say I’m sorry to see her go. She should never have been kept on the air for as long as she was.

Oh, my goodness. She looks as bitter as she sounds. Spewing hate every day must be very corrosive to one’s world view, and that corrosion shows in her demeanor.

“He claim to fame was when she blamed a right wing mugger when she fell down piss drunk after downing a bunch of Ketel One vodka.”
‘Cept I just read that she fabricated that story and got caught lying because the bar had a security camera that showed she simply fell down all by herself through sheer drunkenness.

Some people saw, you know, a chance to be in a Cabinet and other people saw it as a chance to go to the Senate and other people saw it as a chance to national television. Everybody was using it for their own reasonTranslation: DAMMIT! I never got mine. I'm still here on this dying network of 35 stations.

[RHODES: . . .and they let that format fail. And ever since that format failed, everybody points to it and says, see, it doesn't work. That was a huge mistake. . .]
Political talk show radio arose because conservatives had such a small voice in the U.S. mass media. Conservative commentators found niches at low wattage AM stations, sometimes buying air time and paying for it by selling commercials and reading them on the air. Liberals had no need for talk radio because the establishment news media slanted to the left. By the time people like Randi Rhodes and her cohorts thought about talk radio people from Joe Pyne up to Rush Limbaugh had made it look like an easy job. It wasn't easy as Rhodes, Maddow and Frankin found out when they launched the unintentionally comical Air America.

There’s a ‘y’ after that, his name was Randy. And a lot of people worshiped him as a guitar player.
