The vast arid wasteland known as liberal radio is becoming even more barren. Loose-cannon lefty Randi Rhodes is pulling the plug on her show.
News of Rhodes' impending departure came in a terse statement from Premiere Networks, which broadcasts her show through 35 affiliates -- "[We] can confirm that Randi Rhodes has decided to end her national radio program. We've had a successful partnership with Randi for several years and we wish her all the best for the future. Premiere Networks will conclude syndication and production of Randi Rhodes on May 16, 2014." (Audio clips after the jump)
Rhodes spent considerable time on her show this week saying goodbye to listeners and outlining the rationale for her decision. She also couldn't resist taking swipes at Al Franken and Rachel Maddow, her former colleagues at now-defunct Air America Radio, especially Maddow (audio) --

LOL I love it when Commie goons trash each other..anyone have that pic of the giraffe eating popcorn
Communism, it didn’t work any where else why should it here.
That crazy Ozzy Osbourne, always in the news.
Probably stumble down the stairs on the way out. What? Too soon?
This is Randi Bueten (her real name).
She looks ‘simian’.
Yikes. He’s better looking than “she” is.
You know why liberal media does not work? Because liberals only tell you what to think but not listen to ideas.
Typical liberal - upset because others acted in their own best interests.
That's got to be some kind of record.
I thought Jack Coleman was an actor. What’s he doing at NewsBusters?
LOL! She does!
I think that first pic is “Randy”
Bump for later.
Now that is a brilliant observation! Right on!
Wow these other 35 affiliates must be truly devastated. A whole whopping 35 of them.
They never spend any time explaining WHY they are right. THey spend all their time TELLING YOU they are right and ridiculing you if you don’t agree.
Klimmers taken a shitty job at low pay to boost their careers?
Color me shocked!
She sounds bitter. Bitter because others made it and she never did. If she is such an “advocate” as she claims, and not in it for “self-aggrandizement”, she should be happy that Al Franken moved on to the Senate and Maddow moved on to TV, to a supposedly wider audience; to reach more people in Maddow’s case and to advocate for the people through the legislative process. What a phony.
Yes. Randy Rhoads. Spelling counts.
They still have the national television networks and nearly every print newspaper. Let’s not act like this is a death knell. Her audience was what 10,000 listeners?
hmmmm I guess for the trivia department:
Rhodes voted for Reagan and served 3 years in the Air Force, honorably discharge.
Still a nutjob.
Whatever happened to that freak Janeane Garofalo?
Haven’t heard a peep from that weird one lately.
She hit rock bottom or something?
“35+ AFFILIATES” is networkspeak for “We have a piece of paper with a list of 35 call letters in shadow or unrated markets. They don’t report to us, and we don’t call them. Yes, we understand they are carrying the show...”
Somehow, I knew you’d be the author of this thread before I even clicked on it. Ol’ Randi has created enough mayhem on her own without her coworkers help. :)
That's about 5% of the number of stations carying Rush Limbaugh's program.
Read this too...
In 1979, ex-Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne was in Los Angeles, attempting to form a new band. An acquaintance of Osbourne's, future Slaughter bassist Dana Strum, contacted Rhoads to see if he was interested. Rhoads, disillusioned with Quiet Riot's inability to land an American recording deal, discussed the possibility of joining an already established band with his mother Delores. When she asked him if he would accept "an offer like this one", the guitarist replied "Of course!" Rhoads got the call for the audition just before his final show with Quiet Riot in September 1979. The day before Osbourne was scheduled to return to England, Rhoads walked into the vocalist's Los Angeles hotel room with his Gibson Les Paul guitar and a practice amp and started warming up. Osbourne immediately gave him the job. Osbourne was very drunk, and passed out during the audition.
I used to listen to her rants on Air America. No wonder Air America is gone.
More like 10,000 drones.
She is a most unpleasant woman. Ugly, liberal, unhinged. He claim to fame was when she blamed a right wing mugger when she fell down piss drunk after downing a bunch of Ketel One vodka.
Randi Rhodes.. augering in..
Bummer.. no longer on the endangered species list
Even Steve Deace has more affiliates than that, and I’ll bet not one-tenth of the amount of money promoting her has been spent promoting Deace.
LOL..I'm sure it's Bush's fault...
She claims that she took the name to honor him.
Definitely a face for radio.
It’s good to see the last rotten piece of Air America hit the trash dump.
Now both her listeners will have to find something else to fill their days.
Avast called this picture a threat.
I don’t recall how it happened, but several years ago, I tuned into some radio station where hate speech was pouring into the air waves. I cannot remember the content, just that it was bitter, resentful, and full of lies. The hate spewer did say her name sometime during the few minutes I heard her rant.
I can’t say I’m sorry to see her go. She should never have been kept on the air for as long as she was.
Oh, my goodness. She looks as bitter as she sounds. Spewing hate every day must be very corrosive to one’s world view, and that corrosion shows in her demeanor.
Randi,in her Air America days, was a vile shrew.
Oops,she still is.
I was a little reckless and rowdy back then. Well, a lot...
Dang, look at the grip she has on that mic. She must hate phallic symbols.
:snork: She talks just like she looks! Like...you know...OMG
Just. wow. (Hallelujah for transcripts. That would have surely made my ears bleed if I’d had to hear it)
Love it when they choke.
