MISSOURI A military sound weapon called the LRAD is trickling its way into domestic agencies across the country. Its latest application will be for use against drivers on Missouris highways.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has purchased two Long Range Acoustic Devices (LRAD) with the intent of deploying them near work zones. The idea is to penetrate nearby vehicles with an overwhelmingly shrill sound to supposedly get them to slow down.
Called a safety device by the local media, the LRAD is most famous for use against civilians overseas during military operations. Its 153 dB sound waves are so powerful that they cause bystanders to reel in pain, clutch their ears, and run away.
Carl Gruenler, a former Vice President of American Technology Corporation (which later became LRAD Corporation) said that the device will produce instant headaches, permanent hearing damage, and that you definitely dont want to be within 100 meters of the device. Of course, that was said in 2004, before the company began marketing its weapons to domestic government agencies.
Since then, the LRAD was being delivered to local law enforcement agencies throughout the USA; many through federal grants aimed at militarizing police. By 2009, the LRAD was dramatically used for the first time against Americans, when police mounted it on their armored vehicles and used it to disperse unwelcome protesters in Pittsburgh during the G-20 Summit

What about the dogs in the cars?
They will get sued when the first pile-up occurs because of this freaking out one or more drivers.
Then they will no longer use it. But it will take people being killed and a lawsuit to get them to say they won’t use it.
Exactly so.
LOL
Well, if I recover ... and I find where the son of a bitch is ... I'll pull my illegally possessed firearm and shoot the MF'er and spend the rest of my life in prison
As a biker, I can personally vouch for what you’ve said.
It will be safer for everybody.
With the driver...

What about motorcyclists or drivers of convertibles ... I can see being right in front of this thing when a speeder comes by you and sets it off...
Let me give you an example. Remember when Walmart used an alarm in Electronics that went off every time anyone entered or left? It was a high pitch tone. Thus I could not shop there. I called Corp back when the higher ups actually cared about customers concerns and listened to customers. I explained what they were doing & the alarms were removed. I didn't have to say I'm going to sue rather I explained to the then VP of Loss Control what they did to people. Watch people in places like Lowes and Home Depot where alarms and paging tones are going off. Watch them become more and more agitated although they may not know why.
I understand the safety issues for construction crews. In Tennessee they usually use considerable precautions especially cops in construction zones from multiple land closures to concrete barriers. Then they went to another extreme and created a Move Over Law. Meaning if Joe Patrolman was running a speed trap with his buddies and had a car pulled over on the shoulder by law you have to move left. Try that in a two mile stretch where they are running a trap and persons are jockeying for the proper lane for a major interstate junction. What would have been a better idea? Approaching the offending vehicle from the passenger side. Some cops have caught on. Others still stick their butts out in traffic.
I can show you something else about sound few persons know. We've all heard the kids in cars with cranked up sound systems you hear the bass long before the other frequencies. The bass frequencies can not be stopped. Hearing protection won't stop it because it penetrates the skull which is part of your hearing which is one reason those cannons are a danger. An Audiologist doing an extensive hearing test will test that portion of your hearing. Try it next time you hear a car like that. Stop up your ears as tight as you can. You'll still hear it and feel it.
Nice to see that advanced weapons designed, and built for use against terrorists are now to be used against US citizens. Your tax dollars at work.
"If you can hit a car moving 65 mph from three miles away we need you!"
Ugly folk gotta watch out for themselves!
Probably not for everyday use, just for those traveling in groups to support a cause, like Cliven Bundy? Imagine what it does to horses!
ROTFL
Hey if they can legally get by doing this which is BTW physical assault then they can also punch you in the mouth and say Slow Down. I’d love to have one to use outside any officials home elected or appointed that authorize this use on the public period. Give me a few minutes outside their house using their new “Tool” and their military tool would be taken off the streets the next day.
My lawyer will be contacting you after he talks to my audiologist.
Here's his card.
I’ll go in half with you for one of those.
And when a motorist has a car crash after being subjected to this hellish device, I hope he runs over the idiot cop who deployed it.
Carl Gruenler is the ahole who should be strung up by his junk for marketing this Nazi invention.
