Does that make criticizing the Bureau of Land Management “racist” or “homophobic”?

Indeed but the GOP will still chase their tail.

Mark Steyn dittos. Like him almost as much as Rush. The man hits the nail on the head every time. How people can sit back and watch their individual freedoms being taken away and not say a word is beyond me. But then again, our choices at the ballot box these days are pretty slimy.

I wouldn't ass/u/me anything about Bundy being racist. He just pointed out one of the most unconstitutional, invasive, and pervasive overreaches of Federal Governance (the Democrat Plantation), and everyone seems to be having cartwheeling fits of diarrhea trying to distance themselves from the man and what he actually pointed out.

The overreach of the Federal Government is far from limited to some rangeland in the boonies, and the armies enabling, enforcing, and collecting the money to pay for these most universal and destructive of Federal programs vastly outnumber the 200 BLM JBTs sent to put the Bundys out of business.

As has been pointed out in the first news of this devastating situation, the desert tortoise is endangered by the presence of cattle. Yet, for a very large sum of money to the government, a cattle raiser can use the land and to hell with the tortoise. So, it’s obviously NOT ABOUT THE TORTOISE.

These lines from Steyn are extremely important:
“No one -Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao, Franco -had devised a form of totalitarianism appealing enough to seduce (Anglo-nations). Now they have. As the Bundy example illustrates, a free people will cheerfully abandon bedrock principles like equality before the law if state power is being used to torment a racist or a homophobe or someone whose very presence offends against the citizenry’s sense of its own virtue.”

Till you neuter the “racist” word you will have no conservative movement of any heft, no matter how much you grovel or weep.

Let’s also assume, if only to save time, that he’s Islamophobic, homophobic and transphobic.

Is that the same as Trashphobic ?

Drudge posted the unedited version of Bundy’s rant. It appears that the Times cherrypicked it to make it appear far worse than it was. Why isn’t this being reported as much as the original story?

Bundy didn’t say anything Bill Cosby hasn’t been saying for years. Bundy is no more racist than Steyn. It boggles the mind to see supposed conservatives buying into the NY Times lies. For those of us from the West who have worked the land, it is disconcerting to know city slickers will never really get it though they can dance around it all day long; especially East Coasters. Note to Steyn: stop trying to give yourself more creds by continuing the lie that Bundy is a racist. It only points out your bigotry towards those who work for you in bringing food to your table.

Never better. I have been saying much the same thing...

"the purpose of the federal bureaucracy's "grazing fee" was never to provide a fair-market value for the cost to taxpayers of permitting grazing on public land but simply to drive those cattle off the land, and their owners out of the ranching business. As a form of coercion, it worked. But it is not a "law" that should command any respect."

Just So brilliant!!

"As the Bundy example illustrates, a free people will cheerfully abandon bedrock principles like equality before the law if state power is being used to torment a racist or a homophobe or someone whose very presence offends against the citizenry's sense of its own virtue." P>And so pre-Nazi era as well.

This article seems to be evidence that the charge of “racism” is losing its sting. The author asks the fatal question: “are the actions of the BLM made right if we call Bundy a racist?” Grant that he is a racist, sexist, homophobe the BLM was still wrong. Let Steyn’s attitude spread.

I don't know if Bundy is the racist he's been made out to be. I still don't know why he expounded on the problems of the black underclass (goaded into it?), but he is not far wrong in that they exchanged one form of slavery for another.

And those libs who view the law as sacrosanct (the laws they like), earnestly invoke Thoreau when breaking laws they don't like...which are numerous. Just see how much sympathy the people who trash logging sites or protesters who cross boundary lines at nuclear or military facilities get from libs. Then breaking the law is just fine...isn't that right John Stewart?

In short, most libs are incredible hypocrites about the law...including the president who is himself a criminal lawbreaker by refusing to enforce existing immigration laws.

Ya knew this was coming.
He’s also a Mormon—wait ‘till they get into that.

It’s a good gauge on how out of touch the “GOP” can be when defending our rights. At ANY criticism, they go to auto-cringe, roll over and play dead.

He’s waayycyst, of course. That goes without sayin.

Steyn is seeing the present and projects it into the future.

It is not pretty. It's frightening.

I love Mark Steyn. (I am still mad at him for TRASHING Birthers)

He hits it!

I AM NOT SAYING Bundy IS A RACIST. I don’t know, and frankly I don’t care.

As long as you don’t break the law, you are still free in this country to be a racist. Being a racist is an OPINION! It is the OPINION that one race is superior to another. That’s it!!!

I prefer to judge people on an individual basis, but you certainly can draw conclusions about groups in general. For instance, I don’t think it’s racist to say “Blacks”, in general, are better basketball players than whites. 78% of NBA players are Black. 68% in the NFL. 10% in Major League Baseball.

Does that make Major League Baseball racist? Many say it does. Yet Blacks being only 13.1 per cent of the population, is much more in line with baseball than Basketball or football.

Whites don’t cry that Blacks are racist against whites, just look at the disparity in the NBA & NFL.

We realize that the best players play. Race is not a political factor. It may be a genetic factor.

In the Bundy situation, to parity an old song, What’s race got to do with it? The answer is absolutely NOTHING!

Yet the supposed Conservatives like Beck and Hannity (COWARDS), jumped right on the race baiters bus and then refused to get off.

“I am the ONLY person on earth, who knows what I REALLY believe”.

Like lyric in the Adele song “Rumor Has It”,

“Just ‘cause I said it, don’t mean that I meant it”
