Mass transit, common core, lightbulbs and other liberal conspiracies

WASHINGTON — "Common Core," the name for a set of national education standards, is the latest rallying cry for right-wing activists. Derided as "Obamacore," it's been attacked as a government attempt to usurp local curriculums and impose liberal values on conservative communities. Glenn Beck calls it a plot to turn children into "cogs" under a police state, and several Republican politicians have jumped on the bandwagon, denouncing the Obama administration for supporting the standards.

If this is confusing to ordinary observers — there's nothing totalitarian about guidelines for what students should know at the end of each grade — it's bewildering for Common Core advocates, who just four years ago were a boring part of the American policy landscape. Common Core was a bipartisan initiative, with support from the vast majority of governors, including Louisiana's Bobby Jindal, who has since reversed course as he preps for a potential 2016 presidential run.

What happened to make Common Core an object of hate for conservative activists? The answer is easy: "The Republican revolt against the Common Core," noted The New York Times on Saturday, "can be traced to President Obama's embrace of it."

That's it. In his 2012 State of the Union, Obama gave a few words of support for the standards. "For less than 1 percent of what our nation spends on education each year," he said, "we've convinced nearly every state in the country to raise their standards for teaching and learning — the first time that's happened in a generation." With that, the right-wing outrage machine revved into action, with a grass-roots campaign that has percolated into mainstream politics.

Yep. It has nothing to do with the moronic math Obamacore teaches, nor with the not-so-subtle indoctrination built into the curriculum. We’re RACIST.

"The Republican revolt against the Common Core," noted The New York Times on Saturday, "can be traced to President Obama's embrace of it."

So far, that's proven to be a reliable way of judging things.

So, why was Common Core developed behind closed doors?

Why did all the developers have to sign non-disclosure agreements?

Oh, my stars...

Do even THEY believe this boilerplate? "Guidelines", eh? Mere suggestions, which states and local districts can take or leave, as they see fit? No strings attached, no sanctions for refusal to use, no need for book companies to scramble to make everything "aligned" with it (oh, wait... they already did...), no description of teaching techniques which are mandated?

I need to develop a thicker skin. Listening to grotesque, large-scale lies which have grim consequences for millions of kids still bothers me, a bit.

I watched that Common Core movie earlier today.

Good stuff.

I’m just getting into my research on CC and I’m now watching this.

That's it.

What a contemptuous and arrogant lie.

Anyone who doesn't believe that liberals are literally programmed what to say and think needs to read this article. The writer knows exactly what he is doing - giving programming insructions.

Liberals are told to barf out bumper stickers because they cannot win any arguments. They are then told to get violent and insulting if their bumper stickers are rejected. Every single Leftist is tasked with giving these instructions over and over again. Remember Clooney swearing and insulting and walking out on his firend at the restaurant? Clooney wasn't pissed. He was training liberals how to act when they are questioned about Obamacare. He knew the sheep would read about his actions, and imitate him. And they do.

People like this writer and Clooney aren't mere jerks, or lost in wrong beliefs. No - they're deliberately, consciously evil people, working for evil, by using knowingly evil methods.

Now we know why they hated No Child Left Behind. It focused on teacher performance instead of indocrination. The left really hated it even though, like most crap, came from Ted Kennedy.

Remember how the left took on HMO’s? Another Ted Kennedy idea come true.

...there's nothing totalitarian about guidelines for what students should know at the end of each grade ...

Yes there is, when the guy insisting on it and pounding the table is a hard-core, eyes-glow-in-the-dark totalitarian statist.

Yes there is, when the guidelines are written in a locked room, secretly, by liberal and Prog-Communist statists and are founded on the idea that education belongs to the federal government, not the People, and when hothouse-mandarin Stalinist pooh-bah's, not the People, shall determine all things and discipline the People when the People disappoint .... and not the other way 'round.

Ted Kennedy had the bad habit of meeting with Soviet Communist Party officials to talk American politics.

Usually with Armand Hammer or (KGB tool) Sen. John Tunney of California, or some other shadowy character, in attendance.
