At least nine people were killed and more than 35 others wounded in shootings around Chicago from Friday afternoon through early Monday morning.
Among the wounded were five children who were shot in a drive-by while leaving a park on a warm Easter evening.
The weekend's latest fatal shooting occurred at about 1 p.m. Sunday when shots were fired upon a Lincoln Navigator. Police said the driver of an orange Hummer blocked the Navigator head-on at the corner of 28th Street and Sawyer Avenue. Two people with guns then stepped out of the Hummer and fired nearly a dozen bullets at the Navigator, right under a police "blue light" camera.

9 dead, 35 wounded. Without much improved modern emergency medical care, many of the 35 would be dead too.

And again, if you watch the video at the source, you’ll hear the CPD chief calling for more gun laws.
He, and anyone who grew up on the city’s South side, know damn well you can buy illegal guns on-the-street. His desired laws will do nothing to prevent more of this violence. A heavily increased police presence and stakeouts will but then, they really don’t want to stop the killing; they just want to validate their desire for tough gun laws.
Except this never seems to end.

Not to worry. Rahmn will fudge the stats and these will show up in the annual stats as only 5 dead and 27 wounded and will prove the violent crime rate in Chicago continues to drop.
Maybe outlawing gun ownership would help, Oh, wait ....
