A recent trend along Texas' southern border involves illegal immigrants flocking to the U.S., turning themselves in to Border Patrol officials, and then expressing credible fear for their lives. Word has apparently spread throughout Central America that immigrants who take these steps have a good chance of obtaining asylum in the U.S.
The newly popular practice is straining federal resources, causing "detention facilities, asylum offices and immigration courts [to be] overwhelmed," according to the New York Times.

Isn’t that the scam that Obummer’s Aunt Zetuni ran to get over 14 years of freebies from the U.S. taxpayer in spite of getting two deportation orders? It took the Mexicans a while to catch on to what the squatters from African countries have been pulling off for decades.
No asylum! No amnesty for squatters? No anchor babies to game the system by countless relatives!
Let the asylum seekers go to Europe and Russia.
Were it that they had fear about entering our Country and being a felon. We live in odd times.

That was my first thought, wishing that the act of placing one unauthorized toe onto U.S. soil would be enough to cause credible fear for the invader’s life.
Shoot them and put them out of their misery.
If that is true, then set up refugee camps and put the asylum seekers there ... then charge the Mexican (or whichever nation) for the cost of keeping them. Get the UN to place sanctions on Mexico (or other nations) who are causing their citizens to flee.
Yes. And call the area a refugee zone. Shame the countries that cause the refugee situation in the first place, namely Mexico. Charge the Mexico for the creation and upkeep of the zone and for feeding and housing the citizens they are causing to be refugees.
We should call out Mexico for what it is, a failed state and bring this fact to the world’s attention.

Odd how gullible our people are when it comes to accepting anything an illegal says.
Those of us who weren’t born yesterday want these people to go back home.
Gullible has nothing to do with it. The "credible fear" comment was invented by this regime. We paid for Spanish cards to be handed to Mexicans in Mexico so they would know exactly what to say. Orders were given to BP. "You hear the words 'credible fear', leave them alone."
This nation's leaders are now beyond disgusting.
