Despite what Kerry said, which was unpleasant to Israeli ears, his commitment to the success of the diplomatic process and the time he has invested in solving the problem, regardless of the other unresolved conflicts in the world, should to be appreciated. Ukraine can wait.
Kerry's goal of ending the conflict needs to be our goal as well. His problem, however, is how to go about it. From the beginning, he should never have set the bar so high. He should have added this, for the sake of fairness, at the Senate hearing. Perhaps he forgot.
There is no shame in admitting that under such conditions, with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' persistent inflexibility, talking in and of itself is important, and if something eventually comes of it then all the better. Negotiations are always preferable to a renewal of violence.
Kerry's "J'accuse" speech yesterday was far more moderate than French writer Emile Zola's sentiments during the Alfred Dreyfus trial. Kerry knows the triangle he has formed needs to produce a deal. Exacerbating the turbulence will only make it a Bermuda Triangle, where there was a negotiation, and "poof," it was over. Kerry's own personal failure.

His problem, of course, is that he’s a putz and everybody other than himself and Odumo knows it.
That would explain the bad wig. Hard to paint facial features and put believable hair on a six-foot tall uncut putz, keep it erect with Botox.
He is the GVI, Global Village Idiot.
Under present conditions, I just don't see that a peace deal is possible. Certainly not with Odumbo and Lurch on the case.
There is a peace deal. “Abbas, Gaza is your country. Deal with it. We no longer want it. By the way, on May 1, we are turning off the electricity, gas and water to Gaza since you don’t need us so you better make alternate plans for supplying your people.”
Then clear out the West Bank and send everyone who doesn’t want to be Israelis to Gaza. And just so we can be assured that Gaza will be a peaceful country, move the UN there.
Never mind all that. I am so brilliant, I don’t even need reality, and so is my boss, though not nearly as great as me. So not only is a deal possible, it’s imperative, so that the whole world will sing our praises. Reality will just have to catch up with me.
Well, maybe a deal is possible if he pulls out his magic happy hat.
John Kerry’s reputation around the globe went ‘’poof’’ long before the Israeli-Palestinian peace process did. So nothing he says has any significance. Vladimir Putin simply laughs at him. Why can’t the Israelis do the same?
He has a great big country. We have a tiny one. There are over 100 million Russians in the world, and less than 20 million Jews. Somehow, we are always at the center of it all, and dasn’t have so much as a splinter in our eyes, while our antagonists are allowed a whole forest in theirs.
It’s always the jug.
