Carney Suggests Republicans are like Racists
White House Dossier ^ | April 8, 2014 | Keith Koffler

President Obama and his aides are up to their usual deeply unpresidential vitriol, suggesting evil motives on the part of Republicans for opposing Obama’s agenda.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney today compared Republican opponents of the Paycheck Fairness Act to “conservatives” who fought civil rights legislation.

Carney spoke today at the White House briefing:

"Republicans object to this strenuously using the same arguments that conservatives used when they objected to very bit of progress made on civil rights for women and minorities over the past many decades. And they were wrong then, and they are wrong now."

Actually, Republicans oppose the Paycheck Fairness Act because it would add new red tape and bureaucracy for businesses and cause artificial business decisions to preempt government intrusiveness, harming both male and female employees. Not because they hate women.

Carney offered up his nasty rebuke at the end of a tortuous five-minute effort to parry persistent questioning from ABC’s Jonathan Karl about the White House’s own gender pay gap.

Somebody should remind the perpetually-confused obama worshiper that it was the Democrats, lead by Al Gore, Sr., who fought hard against passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1965, despite strong support of the legislation by Lyndon Johnson.

Without the support of a considerable number of Republicans in the Democrat-controlled congress, Johnson would have been dealt an embarassing loss by his own party.

Now, let me go check to see if this is brought up in the New York Times/LA Times/USA Today/CNN/etc., etc. coverage of Carney's statement ... OOPS! Don't see it anywhere ...

When the law is on your side argue the law. When the facts are on your side argue the facts. When neither are on your side do what the Democrats do, lie, cheat, steal, malign and make up statistics.

Racists? Jay must have his `isms’ wrapped the old WH axle (again). Or maybe he’s running his own `It’s the Kochs!’ game to distract from the sexism shown in WH pay scales.

Summary: S.84 — 113th Congress (2013-2014)

There is one summary for this bill. Bill summaries are authored by CRS.

Shown Here:
Introduced in Senate (01/23/2013)

Paycheck Fairness Act - Amends the portion of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA) known as the Equal Pay Act to revise remedies for, enforcement of, and exceptions to prohibitions against *sex* discrimination in the payment of wages.

Revises the exception to the prohibition for a wage rate differential based on any other factor other than *sex*. Limits such factors to bona fide factors, such as education, training, or experience.
