Eighteen countries, including five of the worlds leading arms exporters, ratified a landmark treaty regulating the multibillion-dollar global arms trade on Wednesday, giving a significant boost to the campaign for the treatys entry into force. [ ]
Five of the worlds top 10 arms exportersBritain, France, Germany, Italy and Spainturned in their ratification documents at the ceremony. The other 13 were Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Malta, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Among the hold-outs is the United States, the worlds largest weapons exporter. The Obama administration has signed the treaty but there is strong resistance in the U.S. Senate, which must ratify it.

Why give up a lucrative business? ... :-) ...
Canada is a major arms exporter too, and we better not sign this.
There is no logical reason for the US to enter into this treaty, spawned by the One-World-Government (OWG) crowd at the UN.
In fact, the UN is an organization that has far outlived its usefulness and still costs us billions of dollars every year, along with providing a well-lit soap box for every third rate, Third World crackpot dictator to vent their anger at us and our allies, endlessly.
It’s time to get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US.
If the UN continues to exist on the planet, all it can do is continue to cause trouble. One would have thought that it would never have come into existence, but clearly FDR learned nothing from the League of Nations.
What about California, New York and Massachusetts?
This is from Wiki. “”Anti-gun treaty proponents continue to mislead the public, claiming the treaty would have no impact on American gun owners. That’s a bald-faced lie. For example, the most recent draft treaty includes export/import controls that would require officials in an importing country to collect information on the ‘end user’ of a firearm, keep the information for 20 years, and provide the information to the country from which the gun was exported. In other words, if you bought a Beretta shotgun, you would be an ‘end user’ and the U.S. government would have to keep a record of you and notify the Italian government about your purchase. That is gun registration. If the U.S. refuses to implement this data collection on law-abiding American gun owners, other nations might be required to ban the export of firearms to the U.S.”[30]”
Other criticisms include the possibility that foreign countries could take the US to court if, say, a murder weapon used in the UK was traced to Bob’s Guns in Houston. They could essentially order all American private gun sales shut down. Failure to comply would allow them to impose trade sanctions. This is how countries treaty-away their sovereignty. We have already lost it in the imposition of import duties. Bush put a tariff on steel. He had to remove it as we lost the case in a foreign court and our trading partners imposed penalties on hundreds of unrelated exports.
Doesn’t stop the arms shipments....just more regulations
Changed tagline again.
“Among the hold-outs is the United States, the worlds largest weapons exporter. The Obama administration has signed the treaty but there is strong resistance in the U.S. Senate, which must ratify it.”
Damn that constitution!!!
And neither Israel, China or Russia are part of this. They aren’t stupid.
“Among the hold-outs is the United States”
Good
Whoop-dee-friggin’-do. They can disarm themselves all they want.
including five of the worlds leading arms exporters,
Sure, they know it would only be enforced against the US.
Who cares? WE are not going to ratify it. The Senate sent Lil Bam a letter in advance of his signing to that effect. Its unconstitutional and it would set off CWII if they tried to enforce it.
The Germans have no intention of meeting the terms of the treaty— their arms exports to the Middle East are through the roof, and no German politician will say “no” to all that money.
Thanks Olog-hai. But if Iran wants nuclear weapons, no problem.
At least the Czech Republic hasn't signed on so I can still get that VZ2008 I want. :-)
There’s no trusting the RINOs. They can do the proverbial heel-face-turn at the drop of a hat.
“They can do the proverbial heel-face-turn at the drop of a hat.”
Well there is that. :-)
The UN sucks
