Director Darren Aronofsky's "Noah" is on pace to outperform this weekend with a $40 -$45 million haul at the box office, but moviegoers are giving Russell Crowe's epic a deadly CinemaScore rating of C. Deadline Hollywood called that "very bad news for word of mouth and next weekends drop."
For some perspective, studios get nervous when a film only scores a B.
Critics overall gave "Noah" a 76% Fresh Rating over at Rotten Tomatoes but the Tomatoes' audience score is a withering 57%.
Next weekend "Noah" will not only have to deal with deadly word-of-mouth but also the Captain America sequel, which is wowing critics and audiences alike with scores unlike anything since the first Avengers movie.
My thoughts on "Noah" were divided. Overall, the film is a sinister piece of anti-religious filmmaking that is obviously meant to lead people away from God. Admitted atheist Aronofsky intentionally tries to fool people into believing God wiped out humanity for their wickedness and evil, but only as it pertains to how man treats the environment. Moral and sexual degradation have no part in the equation....

The true story of Noah, and the times he lived in are so freaky, I honestly don’t think a movie could be made of it. The true Biblical story speaks of genetic modification to the human race, so that Noah and his family were the only ones not manipulated. The world was populated by half human, half angel hybrids, freaks, and so when God destroyed them, He wasn’t killing innocent people, he was ridding the world of monsters. Make a movie of that. Christians would be shocked. They just know about the animals and the boat.
I’d love to see artwork depicting Angels as described in the Bible. I would even more enjoy seeing the reactions from people who collect “pretty” angel artwork.
why would an atheist make a movie about Noah?....uh... yeah...so as to leave out GOD...
Making money off the word of God and the creators can’t even tell the truth. You reap what you sow. My heart bleeds.
I saw it today. Other than the names, the ark, and the flood is is not even close to the biblical account. If you enjoy fantasy flicks you may leave the movie without feeling ripped off. The acting is good, the production quality is good, the script is not completely awful.
If you are expecting a movie about the Noah story save your money.
How about this!!!! When Jesus is pictured coming back to Earth, the first thing people say is— “How did you get those wounds???!” Jesus is also pictured as being like “A lamb who had been slain.” In reality, Jesus is mangled. For eternity, he will carry his wounds and scars, since he was taken out of time to live in eternity. If you were to see Jesus, at this very moment, the first thing you would notice would be His wounds. Someone said once that the only manmade things in Heaven are Jesus’ wounds.
He has to carry them for eternity so that we can be perfect. He is the friend who gave his life for His friends. We will always be reminded of what we did to Him, which is why Christians in Heaven throw their own crowns to the ground
On the contrary, the Ethiopic Book of Enoch to which you refer would make stunning cinema, it would rank with the best science fiction has to offer but would be based upon accounts found in the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Well said!
Lilith, make a movie about her.
Nope, not Enoch. Actual Genesis.
I know this is off topic....but if you have a hankerin’ to go to a movie....I highly recommend Wes Anderson’s *The Grand Budapest Hotel* with Ralph Fiennes.
It’s delightful....and you will be entertained and laugh.
...sorry to interrupt...I’ll go now.
why would an atheist make a movie about Noah?
To make a hit movie that makes 45-50 million in a weekend. Not many movies make that much. It was only made for 135 million and has not hit the World yet. This is pretty much a hit so why wouldn’t he make it? Smart guy. And all the controversy is golden. This director is the luckiest person on Earth. Can you imagine if the movie was released without all these stupid stories? It wouldn’t have made 10 million this weekend. Conservatives have be a boon for the Director. He needs to send some flowers to each conservative in America starting with Glenn Beck.
The bible tells a little about this in the account of Jesus’ meeting with Thomas. Thomas was bade not just look, but feel. So I submit that it’s not exactly as if an obvious horror greeted Thomas. How the physical carries over into the spiritual world is a detail that only God can follow, and upon which we speculate at risk of distraction.
Then people why flock to it get, the word out...go see “God’s not Dead”.....with Kevin Sorbo. Hear it is a fantastic movie
Remember, Mary didn’t recognize Him when he came back until He spoke to her. His beard had been pulled out among other things.-
Zechariah 13:6
And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
Wes Andersons *The Grand Budapest Hotel*
Won’t ever go see a Wes Anderson movie after that horrid Royal Tenenbaums. Worst movie except for that stupid conservative movie “An American Carol” .dreadful. If you want to see a good movie go see “God’s not Dead”.
Genesis alludes to the situation in the antediluvian world leading up to Noah, whereas the Ethiopic Enoch expounds. Your reference to “monsters” is not found in Genesis. It is, however, found in Enoch, specifically in the Book Of Giants.
