Putin: “OK Barack. Here’s how it’s going to go. Do you have a pen and paper? OK, take down what I say....”

It would be very uncharacteristic and surprising if Vlad didn’t keep invading weak neighboring countries.

Well the Germans and Russians signed a nonaggression pact and the Japanese were negotiating right up to Pearl Harbor.

Tweet from Peter Baker, NYTimes:

In statement, Kremlin says Putin “proposed to consider possible steps the international community to help stabilize the situation.”

Must be a news conference in Moscow now. CNN not covering it, they are on MH370 24/7 now.

I think the scenerio here is that they had pre-arranged this farce so that Obama can save face, and Putin can appear magnanimous.

Putin knows the U.S. is hamstrung by massive debt, a struggling economy, a war weary public, and an overextended and exhausted military. He’s holding all the cards. Obama is probably the one who is looking for the off ramp.

More from Baker:

But Kremlin reiterates complaints about “extremists” in Ukraine and introduces Transnistria into the mix saying its situation is unjust.

Putin is smart. He knows all Obama cares about is good optics and polls in the US. So Putin keeps quiet, let’s Obama fly all over the world with his magic teleprompter, allows him to call Russia a marginal power, weak, etc... Putin avoids the press, and avoids controversy, knowing that Obama will eventually be distracted by something else..

Meanwhile, everything will fall into Russia’s hands.

But did the White House say what Putin called Obama?

Maybe Putin is threatening to invade Kenya. That would really upset Obama. ;)

I get the feeling Obama is about to do something stupid in Syria, as an attempt to counter Putin.

The Turkish thing, Obama is Saudi where Syria is a huge deal right now. They were totally onboard with “NATO” (meaning us...) intervening in the Syrian Civil War not long ago.

And remember JOHN KERRY is now Sec of State, and advising him what to do. Syria is ex-French.

The poor Ukrainian people..., things are about to get much worse, now that Obama is negotiating their future?

I smell the stench of sell-out wafting in the air.

What’s Russian for Warsaw, Berlin, Paris, Rome, and Madrid?

I just want to know how to address these places with Obama’s great negotiating skills in mind.

I can just see Putin coming away from this and telling his staff, “All I wanted was Ukraine, but he kept piling on more and more territory. I couldn’t say no.”

I see the deal as being a Russian promise not to invade Ukraine (sans Crimea) in exchange for recognizing the Crimea’s incorporation into Russia as part of the country with some self-autonomy.

Crimea is a done deal, it will be Russian forever. The REAL QUESTION now is whether the Ukraine will give Russia a pretext to go after even more of its territory. So if the new government of the Ukraine starts being up ethnic Russians, look for more of the Ukraine to fall...and the Baltics need to pay attention too. No...I’m not supporting Russia, I’m just stating what’s next.

It is OBVIOUS that our president is CLUELESS regarding how to project power. I’ll help him a bit. First, you stop worrying about how to integrate TRANSSEXUALS into the military - our enemies see that and can’t stop laughing. All the crap about “gender equity” isn’t working too well either, in the context of impressing the Russians. Next, you DOUBLE arms purchases (like the F-35), not cut them in half the same week you’re screaming at Russia. Next, you DOUBLE spending on MISSILE DEFENSE, not treat it like an unneeded luxury. If ANYTHING gets the attention of the Russians, it is missile defense. Next, you FORGET OBAMACARE and work on getting us a 600 ship navy (something very handy for dealing with lots of other countries too, starting with China).

ACTIONS do SEND MESSAGES. Whining does not. Jimmy Carter, for all his faults, actually started the Reagan military buildup during his last year in office (right after the Afghanistan invasion) - and Carter’s planned build-up, if it had been carried out, was even larger than what Reagan ultimately went for. Reagan actually SCALED BACK Carter’s planned spending increases. That is how messages are sent.
