Archbishop of Canterbury signals end of C of E's resistance to gay marriage [UK]

The Archbishop of Canterbury has signalled that the Church of England will mount no more resistance to gay marriage among churchgoers.

Gay marriage will be legalised from Saturday with dozens of ceremonies planned around the country for one minute past midnight. This passing of the legislation caused deep rifts within the church.

"I think the church has reacted by fully accepting that it's the law, and should react on Saturday by continuing to demonstrate in word and action, the love of Christ for every human being." Justin Welby told the Guardian.

His comments mark a shift in tone, if not substance, from a letter from the bishops last month that attempted to forbid the clergy from marrying same-sex partners, and which led to a furious backlash from supporters. At least seven clergy couples are preparing to marry in defiance of their bishops, though none are known to be planning a public ceremony.

So, Justin, when shall you marry siblings to one another? People and animals?

Hate to break it to you, Justin. The love of Christ does not extend to the sin humans commit. In fact, He wiped out a couple of rather large cities because if it.

We are in the last days, the days of the Laodicean church age where Jesus has been kicked out of the church and society in general, but continues to stand at the door and knock in his grace and mercy (Rev 3:14-22). The remnant the spirit-filled, grace-filled Philadelphia church is also here as a light to the world and will escape the soon-coming “hour of temptation, which will come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth” (Rev 3:10).

Thereby assuring that the few remaining C of E members will soon cease to be.

“The C of E is no more! It has ceased to be! Its expired and gone to meet its maker! Its stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! Its metabolic processes are now ‘istory! Its off the twig! Its kicked the bucket, its shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-CHURCH!!”

The American branch (Episcopals) went off the rail on this (and a number of additional moral issues) some years ago.

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (2 Corinthians 11)

Whatever.

A church created to give their inbred fat-ass psycho pervert king a divorce, might as well give weddings to all of their queens too.

The Church of England, born in thrall to the whims of a king, dies in thrall to the whims of the queens.

The Anglican communion has already decided that the CofE and the Episcopal church in North America are on probation. So it’s just a matter of time until full schism.

The church might as well conduct human sacrifices and chant to Satan while they’re at it. Open the door to evil, and it just doesn’t end.

“The love of Christ does not extend to the sin humans commit.”

While I understand your statement, I don't completely agree. Christ loves us in spite of our sins. All humans sin. But for the grace of God go I. I think the Church should welcome gays, just as they do other sinners. But unless you are right with God you should not take part in the sacraments. Homosexuality is sinful behavior, just as adultery is sinful. God loves both, but he wants both to reject their sinful behavior. The really sad thing is when the Church decides it does not care if the people in the congregation continue to love in sin. I think this path will condemn both the Church and the sinner.

“He wiped out a couple of rather large cities because if it.”

Actually, Christ said that would never happen again. He died for our sins to ensure that.

You disagree that Christ does not love sin? Are you certain you know who this Jesus happens to be?

Actually, Christ said that would never happen again.

No, He did not. He said he would not ever flood the world again, but He was very clear that similar would happen to others, just like Sodom (Deuteronomy 29:23, Isaiah 3:9 & 13:19, Jeremiah 50:40, 2 Peter 2:6, Jude 1:7)
