ATLANTA — Pro- and anti-gun forces do not agree on much, but they do agree on the breathtaking sweep of the Georgia legislation allowing guns in bars, schools, restaurants, churches and airports that is now awaiting the signature of Gov. Nathan Deal.

Wonder what those foreigners, Jim Carey and Piers Morgan, or the retired Astronaut and his Missus, Gabby Giffords have to say about this latest development. My response to them is “eat it!”.

An armed society is a polite society.

The Georgia bill, she said, is “so extreme and people do have such a strong reaction to it. I don’t think over all it’s a victory for them.”

Yeah, let’s see how the murder rate goes up.

It’s only extreme to the extremely extreme extremist gun control freaks.

If the new frontiers prove unpopular, the gun lobby may be a victim of its success.

The NYT wishes it so. The more the left threatens to restrict 2A rights and the more overbearing government becomes, the more people start to pay attention and push back. If the democrats/liberals were smart, they'd never mention guns again. If history repeats itself, citizens will eventually (decades or more) forget about the 2A and they can start to "sneak" legislation through again. But I doubt that will happen in my lifetime.

The only "backfiring" going on for the past 20 years has been on government over reach. It's too bad republicans don't know the difference between citizen grievances and media (or "AstroTurf") grievances.

I have paid attention to this law. It is a good one and I hope Deal signs it. It is not a matter of mandating but of allowing guns to be carried in places where people agree to have people carry guns.

The anti gun folks re saying the most outrageous things in order to get this vetoed

HA!
Those folks who are freaking out about it
should have seen how it was worded before it got watered down!

Listen to these back to back sentences:

A majority of Georgians also opposed it, according to several polls.

Mr. Deal, a Republican, who is expected to sign the bill, is up for re-election this year, but there is no sign of a political backlash against him or anyone who voted for the legislation.

Did Mr. Buchsbaum demand combat pay for writing this article? You could feel the pain oozing from every pore as he fought valiantly to find a even glimmer of hope amongst the shattered dreams of his gun-grabbing agenda. A few feeble "yes, but" were all he could salvage.

Poor, poor, baby.

The NYTs and Progressives in general don't understand America.

The Dem/libs have been engaging in a steady push to infringe on our right to keep and bear arms for decades. And this is how it has been working out for them in the last two decades...

And in the last two months... (Nov. 2012 and Dec. 2012)

And it continues...

And there is more...

MOLON LAVE! WE'LL BUY MILLIONS MORE. ;-)

This is going to be unpopular, but guns and alcohol don’t mix. One of the reasons I don’t go to bars.

A gun is just as safe holstered in my pocket after I’ve had a few as my car keys.

You can legislate against my taking target practice drunk, but don’t disarm me.

(If I’m drunk, may I have the right to defend myself against someone who is beating the crap out of me?)

If you notice, I didn’t say not to carry.

Then again, I can’t tell if you are being serious.
