Europe’s far left is set to almost double its deputies in the upcoming European Parliament elections in May.

Poll predictions indicate that the European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) group is set to become the parliament’s third or fourth largest group, with the number of deputies rising from the current 35 to around 60.

At third place, it would replace the liberals (ALDE), behind the center-left S&D and center-right EPP. […]

The parties are against what they describe as neo-liberal policy-making at the EU level, want more funding for social programs, and want to create what they describe as “another Europe”. …

Propaganda? I’ve just red that Far right wing groups are making deep inroads, particularly in France.

The nations are moving right while the ubergoverment is moving left.

That can't be good, especially with Russia on the move.

Cautionary note: far right has different definitions, and often in these countries the ‘far right’ are not to the right on all issues, just on populist ones.

That said, Marine Le Pen’s NF have made historic gains in the regional elections. They used to be relegated to gritty Mediterranean towns, but they just outright won the mayorship of a town in the north, showing their growth as a party. In the run-offs coming up, they are expected to win several more mayorships.

The best we can hope for in France is that Le Pen may be able to reverse homo marriage (which she opposes)and prevent Belgian style child euthanasia laws, as well as the larger goal of destabilizing the EUSSR.

Has Le Pen reversed her stance on closer relations with Iran yet?

The opposite could still happen if a “strongman” shows up. The government was set up exactly for the appearance of such an individual.

I doubt it. Anti-semitism is a strong political undercurrent in both France and Austria. It is just eclipsed by the growing hatred of Muslims.

“...while in France, leftist politicians are set to capitalise on the governing socialists unpopularity.”

Can’t make this stuff up - the socialists have been a failure so lets try extreme socialism.

I really do hope the extreme left wins and finishes destroying the EU.

Death is close for the EU. Another war is about to/may happen. Best to kick out some of the EU countries. Let Russia fight em.
