As a news organization, Fox, CNN, MSNBC et al. have a responsibility not to give air time to every person who has a crackpot theory about what happened to the plane and passengers.
By airing such conspiracy theories, they become more credible than Alex Jones.
Sadly, I think what they have noticed is how generally stupid the American population is, and how easy it is to control them.
I have met any number of people in past years whom, if you so much as even question their religion of Glowbull Warming, they go absolutely nuts.

My guess is that something will float up and wash up on shore. From there they make an educated guess as to where it may be and they eventually find it.
