It all seems like who’s the bigger crook
pro-Russian guy
pro-Ukrainian woman Tymoshenko (girl with the braid)
both are corrupt as hell
I really can’t get hot and bothered over Ukie
nationalists
They had best have their bug out plans finalized before mom comes storming back with a few thousand Russian T90s...
They caused the coup cuz they knew it was unlikely that they would win the election which were only a few months away. Heard she’s going to run for President. Same folks who ran the Orange rev in 2004.
“I really cant get hot and bothered over Ukie nationalists”
Yanukovych was an intelligence asset working for Putin’s Russian regime and its Communist faction of the Russian FSB secret police. Putin has used his former KGB apparatus to maneuver Boris Yeltsin and his mob family of corrupt oligarchs and officials into putting Putin into control of Russia and Russia’s oil and gas industries.
Having coopted the Russian mob activities to his own purpose, Putin and his KGB/FSB secret police used Ukrainian mob members such as Yanukovich and the Prosecutor General to gain significant influence or actual partial control of the Ukrainian government. As Putin’s puppet Yanukovich benefited from the embezzlements of billions of dollars of Ukrainian government revenues just as Putin and Yeltsin had been doing so in Russia. Putin’s ultimate goal was to use Yanukovich as his Ukrainian puppet long enough to keep the EU and NATO out of the Ukraine and bring about the circumstances necessary to gain direct Russian rule over the Ukraine by political coup under the guise of cleaning up the Ukrainian corruption he helped to create or by invasion if all else failed. once that objective had been achieved, Putin was to dispense with the services of Yanukovych in much the same manner as Putin had done so with most of the Russian oligarchs and mobsters no longer of use to him.
Tymoshenko is a Ukrainian mobster rival to Putin’s Ukrainian mobsters. Lost in the conflict between the Russian and Ukrainian mobster and Communist conflicts are the long suffering people of Ukraine who want to become free of all this corruption and the Fascists once and for all. Unfortunately, they must for the present continue to be represented by the Deputies of their parliament until efforts can be made to change the old order, if feasible at all. Putin, however, is determined to not give the people of the Ukraine the opportunity to remove the kleptocrats, traitors, and Fascists from their government; because doing so could threaten his own corrupt regime in Russia by giving the Russian people the idea of freeing themselves in a similar manner as the Ukrainians.
Yup, lost in the suffering conflict are the ~50 million people of Ukraine. And if Putin takes control, the interests of the people will be buried further.
(.....”Tymoshenko is a Ukrainian mobster rival to Putins Ukrainian mobsters”....)
Isn’t she generally quite popular with the people?..or is she a female Don in her own right that handles her political PR on the softer side. She does embrace the finer things of life no doubt.
Either or it doesn’t look like Ukraine’s going to have much change in who oversees their governing affairs if she wins the vote....she helped bankrupt the country, though she is favored by the US I understand.
Meanwhile... Anti-Putin activists left for Russia this past week to organize further protests against Putin. Likely he has banned public protests for the tensions in Ukraine.
Like so many voters in the United States voting for populist Democrats or corrupt Establishment Republican RINO political leaders, many Ukrainian voters choose anyone who is anti-Russian, anti-Putin, or simply the lesser of two evils until a bettr choice becomes avaialable. We have the same problem here in the United States with voters having only the lesser of two evils for a choice. This political manipulation is in keeping with the observation, that if you want to herd the livestock into the slaughterpen, you close off all opportunities to select a path away from the slaughterpen until there is no place else to go but inside the slaughterpen where the gate can shut them in for the upcoming slaughter. So it is in politics, when the two or more evils contest who gets to herd the livestock into the slaughterpen while jointly denying those who would be free to have any voice or influence on being free of their evil political machinations.
I can agree....
.....our elections are pretty much like that, which is why I can’t exactly take sides in these happenings...unfortunately the Ukranians are the ones who will “hurt” the most in the end. It’s going to be a long hall for them to recover....especially with the Eu involved and determining what happens thus far...
I don’t think the current Ukraine Gov. has the ability to determine the future of their country..and the next one isn’t going do much for them if history keeps repeating itself.
Some things never really change...just different faces as we in this country well know.
That is, unfortunately, a VERY astute observation and accurate description of the way of things. I've not heard it put like that before, but you pretty much placed the image in my head from now on.

Well, from the perspective of us potentially being pushed into the same position as these people, trying to rid themselves of the jackboot, maybe it’s not so much “hot and bothered” as much as it is just paying attention to what the ordinary folks on the ground there are saying, thinking, and doing.
Here’s a first-hand look at what is going on there, from a young lady photographer - at the street level. If you click on the links down the center of the page, it starts from December 2013 right up until March 22 2014.

Maydan pt 1 through pt 4 are particularly brutal.
This lady also did a photojournal essay of Chernobyl and the dead city of Pripyat - by riding her motorcycle through it and photographing it. She was also there taking pictures during the Orange Revolution of ten years ago as well.
Most of those photos are on her site as well (left side links).
I think it matters to us - not from the political power players aspect of things - but from the ordinary Joe aspect, because we may find ourselves in the same predicament.
Pay attention to the photos of these people going up against the phalanx of riot shields and guns, under constant sniper fire from security forces, being killed...
Yet, there they are... all for what they believe in.
