Will NFL's Super Bowl bullying be too much for our lawmakers?

The National Football League sent six of its lieutenants to Minneapolis the other day to advertise what essentially is a take-it-or-leave-it offer. Either you people give us the tax breaks we want so that we might not be fettered by the reasonable expectations of doing business or you don't get a Super Bowl. Capiche? "It's an incredibly competitive environment,'' said Frank Supovitz, NFL senior vice president of events. If Supovitz wasn't wearing a tie, he would have said, "Look, we've got other cities that will do what we want, so you either play by our rules or you can stuff your traps with cheese dip and watch the game on television with the rest of the country." The 2018 Super Bowl is what is in play. Indianapolis and New Orleans are also in the running. Minnesota is in the running because the league intimated that if a stadium got built, Minnesota's chances to host a Super Bowl would shoot to the top of the list. They didn't let on that in order to host a Super Bowl, a host city would have to waive sales taxes on tickets and anything else the league might want, including the mints placed on their hotel pillows, which, the bid would have to show, shall be fluffed just so.

Maybe Texas should pass a law that the Super Bowl cannot be played in this state, thus making Texas immune from blackmail from the Homosexual Mafia that was successful in AZ.

Even more egregious, IMHO, is the NFL’s practice of blacking out games in the local TV markets if the games aren’t sold out, thus depriving the taxpayers who funded the damn stadiums from even being able to watch the game.

They were too much for Arizona lawmakers.

Jan Brewer talked a tough game years ago before giving in to border laxity.

Last month she gave in to pressure from these guys to allow a freedom of speech and religion issue on homosexuality under pressure re the super bowl pullout.

THis at the same time New Mexico governor can’t get her hair done form her gay stylist who won’t serve her re her views. THat’s not seen as a problem.

Jan Brewer has since announced her upcoming retirement.

THe political scene, right now, is not for people on the right to sit around enjoying perks. Democrats can do that, but republicans are letting them take over wherever they are doing that.

THe dems, nor the republicans, for all of their desperate searching cannot find anything on Cruz. He would be more DONE than Brewer if they had.

That’s because, and only because Cruz has no dirt. That’s the only way these guys are going to hack it.

They can not play the “well, if Obama had done that, he wouldn’t be in trouble...” deal. Doesn’t work.

If republican lawmakers in Minn are weak for any reason they lose. THey should get out.

Obama can do Anything and he won’t be in trouble, these guys, forget it. They are at their mercy. Republicans can win if they stop being democrats, and that means lazy, addictive, bribable, blackmailable. That’s the only way they can win, and by serving their own base, not giving in to open borders, to start, not spending our kids’ inheritance...

When they are under the NFL, it’s time to do a Jan Brewer and decide that hanging around and drinking most of the time and talking a tough game on a sunny day once in a while is just not going to cut it in these crucial times.

The government basically told the NFL, “Nice Anti-Trust Exemption you’ve got there, hate to see anything bad happen to it.”

That’s why the NFL has gone all PC.

As John Gall wrote in Systemantics: All systems (organizations) grow to the point that they oppose their own stated function. IOW, The stated goal is to organize football games, not push gay rights and other agendas that will tick off their fan base. Maybe they think their fan base is evolving and wants more pink ribbons, gay players coming out, and other new age silliness. Maybe that's true, maybe that's why this old guy doesn't watch much NFL anymore.

Too much more of their crap and the ratings will fall, if that lasts long enough they could lose billions in TV revenue

No problem, Minneapolis can drop out. No one has a gun to their head — apart from the African jihadists who have swarmed in.

They can build the damn thing and then tear it down for all I care. Completely sick and tired of the NFL holding taxpayers hostage to subsidize its private business.
