Billionaire Jim Kochs Boston Beer SAM +1.41% Co., producer of the popular Sam Adams brew, will no longer be sponsoring Bostons St. Patricks Day parade because of the organizers failure to include LGBT groups. The move comes after a Boston bar said it would no longer serve Sam Adams beer because of its support of the parade. Gay rights advocacy group MassEquality and organizers of the South Boston parade, the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council, have been embroiled in talks attempting to broker a deal to allow 20 LGBT veterans to march. A 1995 U.S. Supreme Court decision ruled that the council could include or exclude groups at its discretion.

Used to keep some Sam Adams at the cottage for my neighbours - looks like I’ll have to switch.
I read on an earlier thread that part of the reason for the breakdown in negotiations was that there is only one (1) gay veteran, who assembled 19 of his friends to march with him. So the issue of being a veteran or a gay veteran was secondary to using a parade honoring a Catholic saint to push the gay agenda.
The real Sam Adams was a vicious anti Catholic bigot. The company is remaining true to the sentiments of its namesake.
Why can’t the radical gays have their own parade celebrating Pan or Dionysius or whomever. Leave Saint Patrick alone. What’s next, abortion advocates wanting to appropriate Saint Patrick for themselves?
dammit .Boston Lager is an awesome beer ..gotta find something else.
I pulled out of what?
Sam Adams pulls out.. uhhhhh.. ObamaBier
Norm, I know. They could come out with a bath house steam beer...Fecal Fest.
I agree. good beer. stupid CEO. Time for a micro brew.
Maybe Sam Adams wants to be helpful and push their stool in.
No one is saying gays can’t be in the parade but, honestly, if they can parade their sexual identity and proclivities then what is to stop polygamists or those who are proud to act on the preferences for bestiality?
Keep yer sex life and activities to yourself...
Long Trail & New Glarus highly recommended.
And there’s so many of them! Love trying lots of new beers out at the lake. My neighbours love it!
For me, it’s been a toss us between this and Yuengling. Looks like Yuengling just won.
Selling short on SAM on Monday morning would probably be a big money maker.
For some reason that Sam Adams always seemed to have a funny taste. Now I know why.
Enjoying a bit of spotted cow myself.
They can always harvest the elephant dung, special brew.
They do allow elephants, I hope.
I’m drinking a Ninkasi Oatmeal Stout at the moment and it tastes good. Being that the brewery is located in Eugene, OR, they are most likely pro queer but they haven’t said so. I hope they don’t as I like their beers and don’t want to know.
I think I’ve bought their beer in the past, but I won’t be doing so again. Their namesake must be rolling in his grave.
“The company is remaining true to the sentiments of its namesake.”
I have a bad habit of posting before I read the rest of the responses, you’ve corrected me and I’m sorry to learn that about Sam Adams.
Why would a beer company get involved in garbage like this anyway? They should know they can’t win.
and I’ve pulled Sam Adams and Heineken out of my frig and off the shopping list
I have local microbrew in the fridge for the Sunday NASCAR race. My usual...Tommy Knockers Butthead Bock. No gayness in my fridge is the rule in my house. Let Sam Adams sell to the 5% the gays claim are non AIDS victim active participents. Good luck with that feces!
SAYIT ISN’T SO!!!!!! I love Sam Adams....but I’ve consumed my last can/bottle until I determine whether or not this story is true. If it is, I’m done with them!
Do your due diligence and please report back.
I’ll ask again: Seriously. Who drinks Sam Adams on St. Patrick’s anyway?
I used to enjoy the winter lager too. C’est la vie.
Wish I could get it in Pennsylvania.
Wishing I’d brought more with me on my last trip to Wisconsin.
Sam Adams is Queer Beer now & forevermore.
Available soon in a pink or brony edition, I suppose.
Sam is not a good beer. I’m a Smuttynose Star Island Ale drinker when I have a chance to pick some up. Good northern New England microbrew.
No Absolute Vodka or SamAdams beer in this household. Sam Adams would would of course not support their cause.
Sierra Nevada is comparable.
Keep yer sex life and activities to yourself...
No kidding. TMI
Yeah, they may have Dixie Chicked themselves.
There is a joke in there somewhere.
Ok boys, for a real good drink try HeBrew, the chosen beer!
Smooth and rich as milk and honey!
lemme see....there is Ommegang, Victory, Peaks, Devils Backbone, Bells, Allagash, Pilsner Urquell, Lagunitas, Sierra Nevada, Uinta, Breckenridge, Green Flash, Left Hand, Blue Mountain, Sweetwater, Oskar Blues...
I too boycott and brand that I disagree with their politically correct politics. They need to produce good products and refrain from taking political stances.
I don’t drink that monkey-piss anyway - who cares?
The new Gay Beer.
yeah, that’s also a very good lager. They might be a bunch of Pa. libs too however. Since you like those, you’d also love Caybrew (the lager of the Caymans).
Just imagine this: people watching the parade...
“Oh look, the next group we see is the Gay veterans. Now here are the straight veterans. Ah, here’s the gay members of the carpenters’ union, and now the straight members of the carpenters’ union. Straight firefighters...gay firefighters...”
The Supreme Court decision is to protect organizations from having undesirable members—not just a matter of having gay veterans turn the parade into a political statement, but:
—It can assure the organizers of the gay pride parade
they don’t have to allow Westboro Baptist in with their signs
—A Campus Republicans group can say to a moonbat who joins then disrupts meetings by yelling “you’re all fascist
bigots!”, “hey, you...SCREW!” They can evict him.
—Kids marching in the Little League parade don’t have to worry that NAMBLA won’t demand to be allowed to march.
“Hey, we here at NAMBLA just looooooooooove kids!”
oops I mean they don’t have to worry that NAMBLA would be allowed to march
Who are we to define love?
Have owned some boston beer stock and seen it double in three years
Seems this might just. Make it double again.....
