I've been told by various experts in America's "justice" system that I shouldn't risk incurring the wrath of judges by talking about them.
We'll see how that pans out. But I'm heartened by the stirring example of Lou Pelletier, a Connecticut father who took his sick daughter to hospital in Boston only to have her kidnapped by the tinpot tyrants of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families. That was a year ago. Since then he has been under a "gag order" imposed by Suffolk County judge Joseph Johnston. Initially, Mr Pelletier abided by the terms of the gag order, and didn't talk about what had happened to his daughter. Only when he broke the order and began discussing the case on TV and radio did the tide begin to turn. Judge Johnston's first reaction was to threaten Mr Pelletier with contempt of court. But by now the issue was not the behavior of the parents but the behavior of DCF and a crappy third-rate judge getting away with it under cover of darkness. Once Mr Pelletier threw off his gag order, neither Johnston's nor DCF's behavior could withstand the cleansing sunlight of media scrutiny. Justina Pelletier has now been returned to the care of her doctors, and her father's gag order has been lifted - but only after his own courage had rendered it meaningless. Had he maintained his deference toward a judge unworthy of it, his daughter would still be a hostage of DCF. There's a lesson for all of us there.

‘An unjust law is no law at all’
It would be like imposing a blanket gag order on all of media...
au contrare! it is total law.
Black robed tyrant.
All it takes, for evil to prevail...
It seems that Boston Childrens Hospital faces a huge Medical Mal-practice suit. Punitive damages are unimaginable... Any Attorneys to comment???
Legislators in Mass were drafting a resolution stripping DCF of authority to hold this child... WHERE was the families politician and bureaucrats in Connecticut?
Working on gun registration statutes, of course.
I think it’s mostly a matter of one branch of gov’t deferring to another, who is deferring to medical “experts” without really truly thinking very hard about what they are doing or considering greater questions regarding parental rights, possibly because they’ve been trained not to.
The older I get, the more I realize that stupidity and laziness plays a far greater role in the misery of the human condition than does actual malice or greed.
It’s like stupidity is the dirt and malice and greed are weeds. You can root out weeds, but the dirt remains forever dirt for more weeds to sprout in. I guess that’s why they say that eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.
...organized crime, in other words. He should go after them under the RICO statutes.
“WHERE was the families politician and bureaucrats in Connecticut?”
Threatening gun owners with confiscation and jail.

Agreed.

That is such a succinct and profound observation of the human condition that I have stolen it for future use without attribution.
Bullies and tyrants must be fought regardless of how many badges, guns and robes they have.

Thanks for the ping Slings and Arrows.
The importance of exercising our first amendment is certainly pointed out in this case
“You will go to our doctors or else!”
Time to take a stand now!
Many thanks for the info!
Good on Mr pelletier for speaking out!
I have been following this story and was appalled. There must be more to the story... I mean, how often does this sort of thing happen?
As to 0 care, its a disaster; 90% of the people it is supposed to be for, are not buying it because they can’t afford it.
Yet another memorable post on FR.
