Despite the hiccups, school food authorities said they generally support the nutritional changes

Let's start with a little dose of reality--there is no such G--D--- thing as a "school food authority." There are only a-hole bureaucrats.

We used to call them the lunch ladies.

After “her big-buttness” forced schools to implement the reduced caloric intake at schools.....our junior varsity football players were seen (by me picking my kids up in car line) walking to the local DQ and Subway AFTER SCHOOL to get tanked up on carbs/fat so they could get through practice that afternoon.

“Despite the hiccups, school food authorities said they generally support the nutritional changes and think the menus are moving in the right direction.”

“Despite the poor results, school food authorities said they generally support the nutritional changes and think the menus are moving in the right direction.”

Always the same story. “We’ll be conducting a review. Mistakes were made. Taken out of context.”

Every single thing. The results suck so we must be doing something right. I am so sick of this crap.

-——Other school districts removed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from their elementary school menus.-——

What in the heck is wrong with a PBJ sandwich ?

As a teenager that was almost a staple food item.... Come home from school and eat two or three until dinner...

Kids are growing fast during these years... they need to be offered a wide range of foods to eat. And yeah, that includes stuff that’s “not” healthy... Well by adult standards...

Where in the Constitution is the authority for FedGov to dictate the lunch menu to local schools?
