RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $14 AN HOUR USING THIS ONE WEIRD TRICK!

Democrats believe they've hit on the perfect issue to distract from the horror of Obamacare in the 2014 elections: the minimum wage.

Apparently, increasing the minimum wage was not important for American workers during the first five years of Obama's presidency -- least of all his first two years, when Democrats controlled Congress and could have passed anything. (And did!)

No. The minimum wage did not become a pressing concern until an election year in which the public's hatred of Obamacare is expected to be the central issue.

As The New York Times explained, Democrats see the minimum wage as an issue that "will place Republican candidates in a difficult position," and also as a tool "to enlarge the electorate in a nonpresidential election, when turnout among minorities and youths typically drops off."

(Unlike Republicans, Democrats consider it important to win elections.)

To most people, it seems as if the Democrats are giving workers something for nothing. But there are always tradeoffs. No serious economist denies that increasing the minimum wage will cost jobs. If it's not worth paying someone $10 an hour to do something, the job will be eliminated -- or it simply won't be created.

Bring them AND in some African nations (Nigeria, for instance) there has been an EXPLOSION of Christian growth....sub-Saharan Africa is seeing a revival from the Holy Spirit.....

I notice how Obama DOES NOT talk about allowing more African CHRISTIANS into America.

Any law about a minimum wage is invalid. The government does not have the right to set a minimum wage, or a maximum wage, as it is trying to do.

The minimum wage is a sneaky way to crank up inflation. As wages rise, all other prices rise too.

Also, companies export labor to other countries which pay much less.

What’s the deal with the “one weird trick” phrase that seems to be popping up in ads and articles these days? I refuse to click the ads because they look stupid. What, if anything, am I missing?

***Of course, the reason American workers’ wages are so low in the first place is because of the Democrats’ policies on immigration. Republicans might want to point that out.***

Per your suggestion, I did (speed)read the article. How has illegal immigration differed under R leadership vs D leadership? From a practical matter, that is. Also I see my post #5 was pulled. Mmmmm...I didn’t think it was that bad. Sorry to those who got offended.

At any rate the min wage issue is spot on, I agree.

“One weird track to slash your power bill”...like the “Frank Bates” guy with another silly web cartoon ?

Fhaving smart listeners, conservative radio and web ads sure plays a lot of ads meant for 8th graders.

I guess ad gurus decided if you want to have your spam email read, put “one weird trick” in the title.

“Just to be fair, why not bump ALL wages about 40%.”

Union pay scales ARE tied to the minimum wage. I forget the factor, and I imagine they vary - but some guy making $40 an hour is at ~5.3 x minimum wage. Bring min. wage up to $10.50 and that union wage is now $55.65. (Not including all of the time-and-a-half hours they load up on, etc.)

Bush 43 was worse than Clinton and Obama is worse than Bush. Both parties are selling this country down the river.
