US CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PRES: PASS AMNESTY NOW BEFORE IT GETS TOUGHER
Breitbart ^ | 24 Feb 2014, 9:53 AM PDT | TONY LEE

Saying the political landscape will not be more conducive to amnesty legislation in two or four years, U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue wrote on Monday that immigration reform must happen now.

Donohue has previously said that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce would "pull out all the stops" to get immigration reform this year. The group reportedly plans to spend $50 million to blunt the influence of the Tea Party, largely because it opposes amnesty, and millions more to push for immigration reform legislation that the Congressional Budget Office has said would lower the wages of American workers.

Donohue wrote that "a system in which more than 11 million undocumented immigrants are living and working in our communities in de facto amnesty is indefensible" and claimed that "immigrants do not typically compete with Americans for jobs" and "serve as a complement to U.S.-born workers and can help fill labor shortages across the skill spectrum and in key sectors."

He claims that "support for reform has never been stronger" even though Gallup found that only three percent of Americans view it as a top issue. He also said amnesty proponents "include lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, as well as labor, business, law enforcement, ethnic organizations, religious groups, and the high-tech industry" without mentioning that many of these groups are front-groups supported by left-wing donors like George Soros.

"There will never be a perfect time for reform. The political landscape isn’t going to be any more conducive to reform in two years or four years," he wrote. "The case for immigration reform is clear. The need is undeniable. The time is now."

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has repeatedly emphasized that big-business interests want immigration reform legislation to get cheaper labor at the expense of the those in America's

Cronyism is a disease that plagues the American people from the local level up thru the state and federal levels. May ALL involved rot in hell.

This dried up old gringo no doubt lives in a gated enclave of fellow millionaires, far from the border that is being invaded by criminal squatters.

Wow! Great idea for U.S.Chamber of Commerce....
...instead of it continuing its fine tradition of moving jobs to get the cheap labor of dirt poor 3rd World workers....
The Chamber(pot) wants to bring the dirt poor 3rd World workers to flood the USA so they can pay low wages without having to go overseas, Mexico, etc.

Nice timing too....at a time of extremely high US citizen unemployment....bring in tens of millions of aliens to kick even more US citizens out of a job...

If the U.S.Chamber of Commerce was a wh*re, it would be a $5 wh*ore.

And lobbying represents everything wrong with the current state of our republic. That much influence is not supposed to be tied to the federal government, which was intended to be weak and subservient to the states, no thanks to the 14th amendment.

Please don’t defend this lobbying garbage. It’s toxic to the republic.

"immigrants do not typically compete with Americans for jobs"

Sure.....because illegals have depressed the wages so badly in the industries they've infested, that Americans CAN'T compete for those jobs any longer.

Bunch of weasely bs.....

Rush is stuck on the NFL and Apple iOS patches.

Rush sounded like he was high on drugs today. For the first time in a very long time, I had to turn him off.

Lobbying is fine when its done on behalf of all of us but these days a lot of lobbying is done to destroy the competition.

Michigan casinos lobbied for the ban on smoking in Michigan bars but had a loophole for themselves by virtue of the fact that they had the 10,000 square feet required to allow an indoor smoking area. Bar owners are the smallest businesses of them all can’t afford that kind of space nor do they need it and they lost business because of it.

Detroit is the only major American city that doesn’t have a thriving ethnic food vendor community downtown. The Hard Rock cafe and other high dollar restaurants supported the city council who in turn shut down the vendors. After all, how was the Hard Rock Cafe going to sell their @20 hamburger if someone can buy a $5 coney dog out on the street.

In Ann Arbor is a high dollar sub shop owner lobbying for a higher minimum wage. (Its already $10 in Ann Arbor) He isn’t doing it out of some altruistic desire to help anyone. He’s doing it because he knows that it will cause others to go under.

In contrast is the NRA. They lobby for the 2nd amendment rights for all but don’t lobby to penalize those who don’t exercise those rights.

Meanwhile Rush is stuck on the NFL and Apple iOS patches

He pretty much did a three hour rant on the "N" word penalty in the NFL, didn't he?

I also love how these 8 year olds or 9 year olds somehow get through and sing the praises of his children's book.

Why are we not inundating the US Chamber with phone calls, emails, letters, faxes, and telegrams assailing them for what they are doing to the American people? Let us also hit every single local Chamber of Commerce, and hit them HARD.

Between Bush’s TARP and Obama’s American Recovery and Reinvenstment Act we saw the big bank and financial interests along with big unions being taken care of with taxpayer dollars.

The elites are codifying an aristocracy before our very eyes. We are moving back to a royal class, a business class chartered by the royal class, and the slaves to service them. That would be us.

“...at a time of extremely high US citizen unemployment....bring in tens of millions of aliens to kick even more US citizens out of a job...”

You are grasping at straws. Businesses have to do what they have to in order to cut costs and benefit their stakeholders. Lobbying is a constitutional right for all entities - persons and corporations.

In a free market society, you pay what the market is willing to. Supply of labor is like any other supply in a free society. If I own a business, I want to make sure that my labor costs are low as can be so that my margin is nice, or else I will not have a business.

Let me guess — you are against US taxpayers bailing out corporations, but want corporations preserving quota for US citizens? I am not for any hypocrisy. The labor market competes. Businesses compete. No bailout and no special treatments for either. If everybody competes (for money, position, influence, etc), the society will auto correct itself as merit is rewarded.
