The NYT reports that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will today announce plans to slash the United States Army’s fighting force to its smallest level since before World War II as well as eliminating an entire class of attack aircraft, including the fearsome A-10. Obama officials say that the smaller fighting force reflects budget realities and an end to large-scale foreign wars.

Direct the cut at the high rank officers and civilians who sit in the Pentagon.

The Air Forse has always hated the A-10. Read “Boyd” by Robert Corin. They want super heavy, super fast bombers and they want air to air (You can get hurt doing close air). Who they are going to fight air to air is beyond me. Yeah, yeah, someone is going to say China.

You are right, great plane, great platform. Originally, it was supposed to be single engine and more manueverable, but the Air Force brass insisted on two engines. They did everything they could to end it. It was supposed to be out of service years ago, but proved too useful in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. This is a repeat of ‘how many times in the past’? And, how we have paid for this stupidity, every time.

Every single day the DIMs/LIBs bring yet another example of their hatred of Free America and another example of their idiocy to the fore.

The Air Force has been trying to cancel the A10 since it was introduced. They probably would have done it if not for the Gulf War. At one point members of Congress were threatening to take close air support away from the Air Force and let the Army fly fixed wing aircraft if they kept trying to cancel it.

The New Red Dawn movie looks more and more likely, all it would take would be the North Koreans getting a lot of under the table help from China and use the North Korean invasion of the USA as cover to take back Taiwan....

War fighters, not bureaucrats bear the brunt of cuts

Then the next war we fight, we send a division of Pentagon bureaucrats to fight it.

That should put the fear of G_d in any enemy.

But hey... let’s not quibble over small details, right...

This might come back and bite dear leader in the @$$, since all of those men and women entering the workforce will make unemployment go up.

There are very few countries that can project power across the oceans and North Korea is definitely not one of them. China is not one either..... for the moment.

I believe the Chinese are tiring rapidly with Chia Jr. and things appear to be getting worse. Dear Leader II and North Korea are becoming a major embarrassment to the Chinese government.

China wants trade and you have to think they would like a reformed North that would benefit them instead of the train wreck in the crosshairs of the UN that costs them money.

Israel should put a Bid in for those A 10s.
A lot of displaced soldiers and Marines will be hitting the job market at a bad time. There will be no Unemployment benefits for them. They wont be counted with the Millions of other people looking for a job.
Thanks Obama. You just created a new Voter Bloc for conservatives.
