The head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, which monitors diversity in the NFL, expects the league to institute a rule where players would be penalized 15 yards for using the N-word on the field.
John Wooten, the head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, anticipates that the NFL's competition committee will enact the rule at the owners' meeting next month.
"We did talk about it, I'm sure that you saw near the end of the year that Fritz Pollard (Alliance) came out very strong with the message that the league needs to do something about the language on the field," said Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, who is on the league's competition committee. "So we did discuss over the last three days."
Newsome also said the committee talked about other slurs coming under any possible new rule, including homophobic slurs.

Like I said on an earlier thread. Don’t penalize the team. Fine the player $10000 for each violation and keep a running tally on the big board with their name(s).
And, they can also give the referees special rainbow-striped flags to use for these infractions....

Who is Fritz Pollard and why is he allied?
Yeah. They might want to look into why there is a caste system in the NFL. There are ZERO white corner backs, almost no safeties, very few wide receivers and a couple of running backs who are rarely used. And don’t tell me that there’s a lack of talent. There is a big problem all the way down to college recruiters. They are purposely ignoring white players at skill positions. The few who have gotten through have done amazingly well....Erik Decker, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Eric Weddel, Peyton Hillis, Danny Woodhead, Toby Gerhardt. One of the best all time NFL corner backs - Jayson Seymor- was white. Does the NFL think he was just an anomaly? I don’t.

Umm, I’m thinking that it’s not crackers who will be awarded the most fines for using “The Word”....

I could expand on this list but the point is...it's a slippery slope the the NFL should back away from saying, "No thanks."
